“Very scenic”

Lovely area to spend an afternoon, lovely for pics and access to the lakes via tour boat. Would highly recommend this on a clear day. The castle is beautiful, we're not history buffs so didn't opt for the tour. We did bring a picnic and it was very nice eating with fab view of the lakes and mountains. A must visit attraction!

“Lovely location and good tour”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

We did the guided tour of the castle (the only way you're allowed in) and I'm glad that these are the rules because the tour was thoroughly enjoyable and informative. The guide gave you a real insight in to what life was like in the castle had genuine enthusiasm for its history. If you don't want to pay the €4 for the castle, which in my opinion is VERY cheap, then you are allowed to walk around the grounds free of charge and view the lake etc.

“Be on time!!”

Castle closes very early. 4pm We got there just as they were closing the door. Strict with the closing time, so e did not get to go inside. We enjoyed looking at the grounds outside.

“A Beautiful Sunny Morning at Ross Castle”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

Ross Castle is not far from Killarney & is approached down Ross Road. There is a free car park but watch out for people from the USA driving Righthand drive cars on the Left. If one wishes to have a look inside Ross Castle, there is a 3 Euro charge per person or if you are antiquated like me the charge is 2 euros. Quite a reasonable charge methinks. There is also the opportunity here on going on a Boat trip on Lough Leane or for a walk in the Woods to Governor's Rock or Library Point. Copper used to be mined in this location & there is a Copper Mine trail.
