“Very nice setting”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

The Castle itself is not great when you compare to other castles you see in Ireland. But it is very strategically located by the upper lake.

“Interesting historic site”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

This is a very interesting historic visit to a well preserved medieval castle although some restoration works have taken place over the years. The location is just fab near the lake. Interesting guided tours are given and its worthwhile doing to get the history of this place. Admission prices are reasonable. It can get very busy here so best to go early.

“Beautiful Lakeside Setting.”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

The setting sets this ruin apart from many other castles. The lake is quite large and very picturesque. It is well worth the walk or, in our case, the carriage ride to experience the castle and lake.

“Ross Castle”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

Very interesting experience. It really brought to life what it like to live in a castle all those years ago. The history of the castle and surrounding area was very informative. Tour guides are excellent.

“So peacful and beautiful”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

We rode to the castle on a horse and buggy, “shanty ride” and enjoyed the ride through the park. We must have gotten there after hours because there were no guides, but it was beautiful to walk around and the lake is gorgeous. Just standing there you could imagine what it was like to live there. It was a perfect spot to just sit and contemplate; I could have stayed for hours.
