“The View............”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Ross Castle is a great afternoon out or an early morning outing or a picnic lunch by the lakes..... the castle is located by the lakes and the views are spectacular.... Swans and other wildlife have made this area their home. Children enjoy watching and feeding them.
Bring your own picnic or get a take away at the kiosk at the back of the castle.
You can get boats out around the lakes. This is a lovely trip taking in the local area, the beauty of the lakes and the eagles at the other side. I have been on a few boat trips and always local guides who are very interested and knowledgeable about their loacl area.
Ross Castle itself is a lovely simple style castle. Worth the trip around. Lovely lake views from castle and history is very interesting. Steps are very small therefore one needs to be careful going up and down.

“Go backin time at Ross Castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

There are many tower houses and castles in Ireland and what we liked about Ross Castle was its reconstruction showing its interior as it would have appeared in its heyday. After our visit to the incredible Blarney Castle with its weathered bare stone walls and absent ceilings, Ross Caste was finished with flooring, timbered ceilings (at the upper most level) and furniture. The tour guide was helpful in her recreation of its family history from long ago. Nestled at the lake's edge it was a picturesque highlight our our stay in Killarney. Go from Ross Castle to Muckross Abbey for a real treat in Irish architecture and lore!

We enjoyed the Ross castle for it's location and history
It is located in the National Park and what a view of the
Lake when you get there.
There are tour boats to tour the waterways with as well.

Lots of parking available

Lovely castle with sweeping views of the lake. Really pretty in all seasons. Def worth checking out. Go for a boat trip if your feeling lie a trip out on the water.
