I never been on a farm before and I had a blast at Muckross farm! I am no child anymore but I felt like lol.. The whole concept is an excellent idea, love the way this 'living museum' gets you involved, teaches you and entertain you... Most exciting for me was being surrounded with all sorts of farm animals and the entertaining stories of staff... and of course 'time travelling' was superb too, walking from one house to another felt like travelling through decades, centuries... it was Fun, fun. fun.. loved it

A visit to these farms is well worth it as you will see how farms were worked years and years ago . Elderly visitors will love it as they will be reminded of days gone by and transport is provided for those who might find the walk a bit too much. Lovely mixture of animals and hens and chicks really worth a visit.

For the second year, we bought a season ticket - which makes this very good value as we come here about once a month from May to October. Our three boys love it - including the fresh hot bread with butter that they've now come to expect on every visit.

It's also interesting for them to see potatoes, carrots, onions, and cabbages growing in the kitchen gardens - so they know these things don't come from Te**o, L*dl or Al*i.... They get to see rural life as it was lived 60-70 years ago.

Our boys also love the small animal area - and trying to the catch the kittens that seem pop-up in all sorts of locations.

A lot of the ground is rough and it's a good long walk (although there is a bus), so I can advise from personal experience you need to be prepared to push hard if you have buggy, or even to carry small ones the last half-mile or so if you don't.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Muckross Traditional Farms. The girl's loved all the animals and wandering through the three old traditional cottages. Each had the 'lady of the house' in traditional clothing, tending the fire and baking fresh soda bread. The rooms were decorated with period antiques and clothing-- it was really interesting for the kids to see how life was like on Irish farms, and how the animals lived in such close quarters with people. Definitely an engaging and interactive experience to learn about traditional Ireland.

3 Irish farms represented from the small to the large. Thatched cottages, farmyard animals and the cutest little puppies in the barn. A chance to see horses ploughing the land, cows milked by hand and then the milk seperated. A step back in time and great fun for the kids, plus they have a kiddies playpark there too.
