I stayed here with my family last December 2011 and found it to be such a peaceful place surrounded by trees with the lake in the distance. The staff were all so very friendly and even though we had a bit of a mix up with the name on the reservation at the start it was all speedily cleared up and after a kind apology from the reception staff we went on out merry way to the apartment. The swimming pool was kinda small but lovely and only has about 2 or 3 of us in there at any one time. Overall had a great holiday staying here and would definently go back again.

Room Tip: Apartment with parking close by

I stayed in the nearby holiday homes, the facilities were adequate but need updating... carpet was worn, the sofa was in need of repair and really wasn't very comfortable. Access to the back apartments wasn't great, I had 3 small children with me and carrying everything to the rear of the house was most inconvenient. Walking through the grass to the side door of the living room was really not accessible in rainy weather..a little path directly to the door is really required!!!! Bedrooms were perfect.. really spacious! When I put on the fire in sitting room there was a smell of burning.. Heating system in other rooms was very efficient though, heat in minutes! Staff in hotel were a bit blunt and inefficient, a large group of us and other family members ordered lunch in bar, which consisted of mainly soup and sandwiches, but we were waiting for service for 45 minutes, with hungry children in our company this really wasn't ideal. Another night during our stay, we booked dinner in the restaurant for 10 of us at around 8.30pm.. realising this was a little late for our 3 year old to eat, while having pre drinks in the bar I asked the waiter would it be possible to get 2 sausages & beans for our child before we head upstairs. We were told the kitchen was closed.. this was really disappointing.. and I was left wondering where our dinner was going to be cooked? I feel we had left enough money and business in the hotel for our week duration and this really wasn't satisfactory! Staff really could have been more friendly and less abrupt.. Customer service needs improvement. I am a frequent visitor to Killarney, it was my first time in this establishment, I could consider other options in the future I think. The hotel is a fair distance from town, so I think hotel facilities need to be picked up a bit..

Room Tip: Ask for house with direct access from your car.. my house had to be accessed through grass...not pleasant in the rain!!

We staying in the hotel for a 3 night midweek break at the start of September (2 adults and 1 1/2 year old). Check in was very efficient and lady was very friendly. We were given a room with a double and single bed. Decor was a bit dated but room was comfortable.
We ate in the hotel 2 nights and the food was good. The starters were prepared in advanced but were fine. Main courses were very good. Beautiful views from the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent with food replenished regularly and a good selection provided. The other positive with the hotel is the fabulous grounds and facilities (swimming pool, gym, walks etc).
The main reason for our low mark was the surprise we received at checkout. When we booked the hotel there was no notice about charges for children/babies. But when we went to check out the bill was €60 more than we were expecting. We were informed that there was a €20 charge per night for our daughter- she is not even two. Most hotels dont charge for under 2's or even under 4's. If this charge was for having an extra bed in the room then this should have been explained at check in. In addition, any food that we ordered at dinner for our daughter was charged in addition to this. Just seemed to be a very expensive charge for a young child. I dont think we will return as there are other hotel with similar facilities and better value for money

The beautiful setting made this a very relaxing weekend break. We stayed in one of the self catering golf bungalows, it was clean and well equipped. We tried the leisure facilities which were good, had a drink in the bar but didn't eat in the restaurant. Pars of the hotel do look like they need some TLC but its clean and all the staff a friendly and helpful.
Its a easy walk into Killarney so this makes it a good location for getting about.

Room Tip: The golf bungalows are really popular so when booking ask for one with a view.

We have stayed here on several occasions, as a couple and with groups, and can recommend it on all counts, staff most welcoming, food always lovely, and views from the dining room superb , walks through the woods just beautiful. Well worth a visit. Idea location for touring all around Killarney . Very popular hotel.

Room Tip: Try for a room with a view
