“Comfort and character”

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it. Lovely country feel on the edge of the city - sheep in the pasture and a chicken coop (free range eggs) in the side yard. Our room was in the older part of the property, and had lots of space and character. We ate dinner both nights in the cellar bar, and the food was good and the staff very friendly. Breakfast service was very good. Great location for the Ring of Kerry drive.

Room Tip: Wifi only in common areas, but we had reception in room 16.

Our room was fantastic! Very large with a sitting room and large bedroom. We had views in two directions over looking the garden open areas and a pasture. Great bed!

The downstairs bar was very friendly and a good selection of wines. Breakfast was made to order and quite good. Although we did not eat dinner at the hotel, we heard it was very good.

We got married here four years ago and returned for a night with our toddler. The hotel and staff were as we remembered - incredibly welcoming and friendly. The grounds are gorgeous with stunning views. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Food was of a very high standard - I travel and entertain clients extensively and this was as good as any i have had. The generous portions you expect in Ireland but presented elegantly and with wonderful taste combinations.

If you are visiting Kerry - and why wouldn't you ?! - this is a wonderful, elegant, welcoming hotel.

This is a perfect hotel to stay in if you are looking for an upmarket, authentic, Irish hospitality experience. It is a truly beautiful old manor house, graciously appointed, beautifully decorated in a traditional style and set amidst rolling green meadows. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, helpful, eager to please and informative about the surrounding areas. Our room had a wonderful view of the countryside and mountains in the national park and the atmosphere was tranquil, though the hotel was very close - within walking distance - to the Killarney town centre. We found breakfast and the pub food excellent; we didn't eat in the formal restaurant. Lack of Wifi in the rooms is a hassle, but seems common in Europe in general. Our upmarket hotel in Dublin - part of an international chain - also didn't have Wifi in the rooms. If you are looking for all the modcons, choose a chain hotel. We weren't, so our 5 nights at Cahernane House Hotel ranked as one of the truly most pleasant hotel experiences that we have ever had on all our travels.

Room Tip: We stayed in the old manor house upstairs facing the national park. It was stunning!

We arrived at the house an hour early for our pre booked wedding viewing and on arrival notified the lady at reception that we had arrived and would go to eat at the bar should they need us before our appointment . The reception was busy with people checking in and we were quickly moved on with little acknowledgment .
The building and it's interior is much shabbier than the pictures portrayed , though it may hold some interest for tourists looking for a quaint hotel experience . The bar food was average at best though the waitress was very friendly and helpfull .
The bar at thus stage had 6 or 7 customers and we decided to go back to reception and meet the gentleman for the show around . Again the reception had a number of people waiting to check in and the impression was that they had been waiting a while . At this point we had been waiting at least 10 minutes trying to entertain 2 small children when The receptionist who appeared to be the owner said to us in passing that she knew we had appointment but the man we were to meet was busy in the bar and we should come back another time . At this point she walked off without another word .
No consideration was given to the fact we had gone out of our way and taken time off work to travel to see this venue , and we are still awaiting a phone call .
We promptly left and viewed a much nicer venue with fantastic customer service which we booked immediately .

I returned to the cahernane house hotel having stayed here previously and having very much enjoyed it. First off the service was fantastic. I really could not fault it. I requested a room change which was done as soon as the hotel could. The rooms were also very spacious and I love the feel of the hotel.
Unfortunately there were a number of things which I just felt were not good enough in a hotel these days. First off, there is no wifi in the rooms or anywhere outside of the reception area. When trying to research things to do on our holidays, I found this to be a real problem, especially as my phone reception was too poor to go online. The tv in the room had 3 channels and a loud buzzing noise all the time. Try entertaining little ones with no telly or wifi! The toilet only flushed sometimes.
If the price was reflective of the facilities then fair enough but actually, it was pretty expensive. I would expect better and found myself disappointed, to be honest. With the attention to detail shown in most other areas, I just thought these shortcomings were not good enough these days. I would love Cahernane house to sort these things as I really do have a soft spot for this hotel and the people working there are absolutely fantastic.

This place was very nice in a great location. It is a short walk to the center of town, where there are great restaurants. It is also located near the ring of kerry, near Killarney National park which is beautiful, and the muckross house. Check in was a breeze, room were clean, beds were nice and so were the pillows.
