Well worth the prices to tour the house and the farm houses. Beautiful gardens to walk thru and see. The house tour was very interesting and the young women that gave it was very up on the history of the place. You can go there and spend all day wondering around and relaxing on the grounds.

The grounds and gardens are beautiful could have spent the whole day in there. Also, took the tour of the house.

This tour was worth the hour it took, and waiting for the tour we walked the grounds and it was just lovely. Great for anyone looking to see a "Dowtown Abbey-esque" manor!

I thoroughly enjoyed out visit to Muckross House, but was a bit disappointed that we couldn't take pictures inside even without a flash. As with any stately home, the furnishing were grand.
They did have chairs that those who couldn't stand for long could sit on and a private elevator that could be used [with permission of course] if you couldn't negotiate the stairs well.
The guide was a descendant of the family and quite knowledgeable.
We enjoyed the tour, but the highlight, I believe, was the grounds!! Allow yourself some extra time to explore the grounds.
We took pictures of the rear entrance to the house because they were doing some restoration to the front.

Fairly small Victorian mansion by English standards which makes up of its lack of size with wonderful views over the lakes and hills and some very scenic gardens which were a mix of semi formal and more rugged sections. Great little centre at side of house with well laid out parking and good access. Canteen style self serve restaurant which was reasonably priced, clean and a wide array of hot meals including many healthy options and nice seating outside in good weather. Crafts centre attached too plus shop with a huge array of Irish tat to throw away your last cents on. Definitely worth a visit whilst in Killarney. Great for kids to run around in or a few hours.
