Beautiful grounds and Manor House, the Abbey is stunning from a distance but we did not have enough time to see the inside. However, that did not distract from enjoying all of the history of what was once a splendid place to call "home"The formal gardens are beautiful and well kept.

“Muckross House and Gardens”

So very glad we toured the house. Our guide was amazing. To listen to someone share the history was very helpful. The history of the house is very very interesting. The family spent thousands of pounds to fix it up for a two- three day visit from the the king and Queen of England. Wow. The family went into ruin after the visit! The gift shop attached to the house is incredible. The woven products are absolutely incredible. The weavers are true crafts people. A must see on your trip.

This imposing residence and the adjoining National Park are central to the Killarney experience. For the serious walker and outdoor enthusiast the place will test you to the limit but you will ENJOY. For the dawdler, the magnificence of the dwelling and the gardens is proof of a better style of walking!!!.
Read the history relevant to Queen Victoria and contemplate the irony of her visit and the long wait by the family for their reward.
It raises an ironic smile believe me.

I loved looking around the house and at the antiques and hearing about the people who lived there. The young man that was our guide was excellent.

“Impressive house and grounds!”

We spent most of our visit in the manor house. The tour was very informative and gave you an understanding of what it was like to live there. The furnishings were lovely! It was well worth the time and money.
