The blonde guide was Patsy Foley, - best I've ever encountered, warm, friendly, helpful, but, above all, funny. I would visit Muckross house as often as I could, just to see her lovely face, and listen to her witty banter.
Thank God they haven't got those self-guide, earphone thingies....!!

This is a great day out for local and tourist alike..... The location of the house down at the lake is breathtaking and on a sunny day when the grounds are full of people enjoying the waether and the sun. Children playing football, people lying sunbathing etc.
The house itself is well worth a tour around. Guides are usually local and have a love for the house and its past inhabitants. For any1 loving Downton and its lifestyle in Muckross House you get the feel of what life was really like!!
Lovely grounds and gardens to walk around.
Cafe is nice to stop off in with home baking or bring your own picnic and enjoy the lakes and fresh air. Little shop there also to pick up presents.
The folk village is the last stop off and is an enjoyable walk around. It is like Bunratty, Co Clare but is more hilly therefore people with mobility issues need to consider this. Actors are often on duty in the park as the woman of the house, the farmer etc.
It is a long walk from town. Huge car park. Jaunting car will travel out as will taxi.

While we did not go into the house we toured the wonderfully green grounds./ The only regret was not taking a horse/carriage ride around the grounds.
