We were doing a road trip and stumbled upon Muckross house and gardens. I would advise anyone to do a quick stop and spend some time in the gardens, I took beautiful pictures there!

We didn't go into the house but we strolled through the gardens and walked the ~9km route around the Muckross Lake which starts in the gardens and takes in an old copper mine and tea room (Dinis, though is closed until further notice at time of writing). It was a dreary day but the views across the lake were amazing. However, the view and surroundings doesn't change too much to tempt anyone but the seasoned walker from doing the full lake circuit, once you've seen part of the path you've seen it all.

We then braved the elements to walk from Muckross to Killarney. There really needs to be a bus service as it took a good hour walk and we weren't prepared to again pay the 14 euro taxi that got us to Muckross from Killarney.

This is not a reflection of the Torc waterfall which is excellent and close to Muckross House.

To tour the home of a Guinness heir where Queen Victoria spend a couple of summer nights in the 1860's - well worth of your time. Beautifully maintained, equisite furniture, plenty of hunting trophies - a great tour.

Amazing place to visit. #1 on my list. Guide told very interesting stories about the life in Muckross House. Time flew by so quickly and I enjoyed every second of it.

A little quieter this time of year. Great colour in the gardens and wonderful light over the lake. Great place for a stroll..
