“The Best Steak in Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

"Wow" is all I can say because this place is truly amazing. Great service, friendly staff, lovely decor and very attractive prices just about summarizes our time spent in the Smoke House. Oh and how can I forget, the food is awesome! My steak was cooked to perfection served on a wooden board with a baked potato, salad and onion rings. The portions sizes are also very generous. My only gripe is that there is no Steak House like this in Cork City. Truly the best place to eat if you are in Killarney.

“funky little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

Love the decor and atmosphere in the place, the service was great, good menu although I felt it was a bit pricey, great presentation of the food. My crabs claws were a bit over done and small, although it was a really generous portion my main veg tagine was pretty good but not spectacular. Perhaps I ordered badly, my companion loved hers.

“Great atmosphere and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

We were just looking for a nice place to eat on Sunday 10 of Feb, it was about the only restaurant in Killarney on the night that was full and had a great atmosphere. There was something funky about the decor. While the staff were very friendly I just thought it lacked a small bit of finesse. However the food was excellent, the chicken wings were massive more like turkey wings... More than enough in one portion for 2.

Will definitely return on another visit to Killarney keep up the good work. It's good value well worth a visit.

“Seriously good food in laid back, quirky surroundings.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

It was great ringing the Smokehouse to hear that no reservation was needed, '...just drop by, sure if we don't have a table for you there and then we'll take your number and you can go for a drink next door'. A relief to find somewhere recommended that wasn't turning people as it was already fully booked for the Saturday night in February. This is a bustling restaurant, fun & eclectic decor, relaxed dress code, staff wear casual but are professional & friendly. The menu arrived on a clip board, the knives & forks in a tin can, adding to the eclectic feel. Prices for the food, steaks through fish & vegetarian are reasonable, not cheap but I am happy to pay for good, honest food. We shared the Glenbeigh mussels as a starter, which were served in a beautifully seasoned cream sauce accompanied by 2 slices of batch loaf, really good. Our mains were a rib eye & a 500g t-bone steak both cooked to perfection on a bed of fried mushrooms. The main course arrived on a wooden platter, our fries in little buckets, both our mains had sprigs of rocket salad, more decoration than anything else. This was serious steak!!! All that I left was a boney T. Dessert was nothing spectacular but we did not care, we came for the steak!! Definitely will be coming back here to try the fish which looked very appetising as it was being served. We loved our meal in this quirky, unpretentious gem, which serves real & honest food, whilst charging a fair price for it.
