Description: History of Cronin’s RestaurantIn 1957 Johnny and Noreen Cronin opened a small lodging house down Clover Lane. Noreen who worked as a cook for a brief period in London decided to use her talents in the kitchen serving lunches for local factory worker. At the time it was quite a small operation with Noreen and Johnny doing the cooking the serving and the wash up . As time went by the Cronin family Grew and Sisters Joan, Katherine, Helen, Norma along with their brother Pat all began to work in the lodging house. In 1977 after realising the popularity of there lunches Johnny and Noreen took the decision to buy a small thatched cottage on College street and turn it into Cronins Restaurant. In 1996 Johnny and Noreen’s son Pat took over the business full time to ensure the family tradition continued. Today much has changed has changed in the Cronins but much of the ideals which Johnny and Norreen had when they first opened in 1957 remain the same , good quality food in a friendly family atmosphere, and with their children and grandchildren still working in the restaurant these ideals shall remain the same.

Four of us dined here last night with a mixture of Salmon, Homemade burger, Shepherd's pie & Lamb. All of these meals were presented to us with all the trimmings that we asked for & nothing was left on our plates. We decided from the start not to have any starter so we could choose from the desert menu. :-) We had Cheese cake, 2 x Trifle, and Rhubarb Tart. We had wine with beer & minerals & all of this was very good value.

A charming find! We had an exquisite meal in this cozy little restaurant, and all at a very reasonable price. I had chicken breast stuffed with brie and chorizo, and my husband had the lamb. We loved our meals so much, that we figured dessert had to be wonderful too, so we ordered the apple crumble that was served with warm custard draped over it and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We talked about that dessert all night it was so delicious! The service was also very good. We had all this, a bottle of wine, and coffee, all for 60 Euro. Highly recommend.

We stopped on Sunday evening for dinner but they were closed. Tried again for Monday lunch and it was worth the try. Wife said the veggie soup was the second best she had on the entire trip and my toasted sandwich was a gastric delight. The amount of tasty melted white cheddar was fantastic. Salad & chips were also very good. Great location in the heart of town.

Cute, cozy little restaurant. Try the Shepherd's pie. It comes with a small side salad and a portion of fries (lots of potatoes in one sitting but it was worth it). They also have a pretty extensive wine list but I just couldn't pass up my pint of Guinness.

Service was quick and friendly. No complaints here!
