From reading other reviews it would seem that Flesk used to be a good place to go. This is no longer the case.

Nothing was cooked fresh, which in a seafood restaurant is poor. The chowder was just fish and cream. Mussels were dry and had not been cooked fresh. The lamb was ok but had clearly been reheated and the salmon was oily as it was likely frozen salmon cooked hours before and reheated. The mashed potatoes were also reheated and dry and lumpy, they also tasted burnt.

The staff were friendly but inefficient and we felt like we were always waiting for them to notice us.

Defenders if this place may say it is cheap and you get what you pay for but there are far better options for a few euros more.

For starters - I call into question any of the positive reviews. If you want to eat low quality food from the local VFW then start here. You will not feel like you're in Ireland nor will you taste anything local. I could write a book but I'll give you the quick summary. The food was some of the worst we've ever eaten. I ordered the "angus steak" but it was tough and chewy. The powdered mashed potatoes needed another cup of milk and half stick of butter. My spouse ordered the nightly special - lobster, mussels, and shrimp cocktail. The baby lobster was the size if my hand, the "famous" mussels were average, and the shrimp cocktail turned out to be nothing more than a small cup of miniature shrimp coated in mayo, ketchup, and horseradish - then buried under a filet of salmon. All this for 40 euros. The staff was inattentive and never bothered to ask us how the meal tasted. After the 5th time our server walked by and ignored us as we tried to get our tab, we stopped a different server to close out. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Seriously, as I read the positive reviews for this place, they were either submitted by a family member or were being paid to write the review.

Some of the people in our dinner party had the lobster. It was delicious! I would highly recommend ordering it. It is a local restaurant with a large variety of choices for your meal. It is right in town and easy to find.

After moving from Ireland 6 years ago we came back for a holiday & decided to travel to Killarney with all our family. The thing we missed a lot from home was the beautiful food. We were recommended the flesk for a family feast & we were not disappointed. The food was so tasty & fresh with a traditional feel to it. There was 11 of us & all our food was served in great time. The table service was excellent & the girls could not have been more friendly & helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I was intrigued when I heard there was an American Legion Post in this Irish restaurant - but it's true!! We were in Killarney four nights and this place was recommended by several locals, so we checked it out and were very pleased. Saturday night was fairly busy, but the staff was attentive and our dishes were prepared perfectly as ordered. One slight complaint was that there is one heater vent that is EXCEPTIONALLY warm...we were seated at the table where it was blasting and had to move. No problem... But we saw several parties seated there and also moved... Why didn't they just turn down the heat? :-) Food - excellent. Service - excellent. Pricing - reasonable.
