Where to start with Mrs. Kay O'Shea. . .from the moment she greets you at the door and sees you to your room, you feel like you are with your sister, aunt, mother, or grandmother! We had booked the family room, but I was ill. I did not want to stay in the same room with my friends, so I asked Kay if she had an open room I could stay in and pay separately for (we were using vouchers). She had a room for one night and she let me stay there without taking any payment for it. She knew I was miserably ill and had made me ginger tea and introduced me to Manuka Honey (to help with congestion) for my tea and for a lift in energy. The next evening, I asked Kay if she could call a taxi for us to take into town and she said to go out front and it would be there in 2 minutes. Imagine my surprise when I see our taxi driver is Mrs. Kay O'Shea herself!!! She recommended a few places for us single girls to go and meet nice Irish boys. She was spot on from the get-go. Lovely home, BRILLANT woman, and outstanding hospitality. I shall be staying with Kay again (hopefully in May 2011) Thank you Kay for making such grand memories for us all!

A very obliging and smiling Kay, owner of the Springfield lodge, took us without any fuss at 12 o'clock at night from another B & B which had overbooked us in Killarney and who had promised to pick us from the station. The Irish breakfasts were lovely and she took us to the railway station as we had no car at that stage. We were very happy for our 4 days there and recommend this as a cheerful, comfortable and delightful place to stay.

We loved our stay here, it was quiet and peaceful... nice area to stay in. The breakfast was very filling and very good. Close enough to walk to the pubs in downtown Killarney.

My husband and I came to Ireland early in September 2009 for a late honeymoon. Of all the cities that we visited and stayed in, Killarney was, by far, the one in which we felt most at home. Our stay at Springfield Lodge was incredible. We had some traveling stresses while we were there and ended up staying for two nights. The owner, Kay, treated us as part of her family and helped us through our issues as best she could. Her amazing hospitality and warm heart are what will bring us back to her B&B the next time we are in Ireland.

Kay was a wonderful hostess. She set up our tours for us, gave great directions to get us where we needed to go and cooked a mean pancake!! Mom having a couple health issues was cooked a special breakfast which she enjoyed immensely!! The rooms were bright and clean with ample space for storing. I would highly recommend this B&B.
