Stayed at the hotel recently and had dinner one night at this lovely restaurant. I would recommend it - the service was excellent, food was very tasty. I had a delicious steak and my husband enjoyed the hake. It was a lovely treat.

We stayed at the Lake Hotel and had dinner and breakfast in the Castlelough Restaurant. Without a doubt, the best thing going for this restuarant is the view, which is lovely. There are large windows facing the lake and there is a ruined tower right at the water's edge. That is not a view you get everywhere. The service was also good--friendly and efficient. The food was fine--nothing too spectacular, but good. We also appreciated that the hotel separated the large tour groups from the other travelers in the dining room, seating the groups at long tables on a lower level and the remainder of the patrons in a smaller, slightly elevated area. It helped to maintain a romantic ambience that might otherwise have been dimmed. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant, especially if you are staying in the hotel.

Every course in this restaurant was amazing. The menu was extensive, there were loads of different courses I would have loved to have tried. I had the crab linguine to start, herself had the duck. Both starters were sublime!

Cod special and fillet steak for main course, both cooked perfectly and the fillet steak was huge with no fat to be seen. Desserts were lemon tart and tiramisu, both were very enjoyable. All this grub was washed down with the lovely wine of the month which was a great sauvignon blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand.

Staff were very friendly, efficient and a joy to deal with. Atmosphere was excellent, the restaurant was very busy which is always great to see, we knew we were onto a winner form the start.

The chef should take a bow as he certainly knows how to cook and I would have no qualms recommending this place to anyone.
