“Wonderful Nights Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

Booked this B&B through the tourism office in dingle and had no trouble finding the place without a GPS. Eileen really had it all put together for us when we got there. There were candles lit in the hall and everything was spotless and perfectly in order. She was very friendly and helpful with what to do and see in Killarney. The beds were warm and the breakfast rivaled a kings spread. Any cereal, granola, juice, yogurt, and sauce variety i had ever seen was there as well as her hot breakfast menu which I took advantage of! I highly recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to feel at home abroad.

We had two nights at the Mountain Dew whilst travelling around Ireland for ten days. It was a wonderful place to say, Eileen was very helpful on places to go and see and the B & B was within walking distance of lots of local sites and day's drive around the Ring of Kerry. We really enjoyed the fireplace and being able to bring pizza wine back for dinner one night and the laundry service. Breakfast was yummy !

Arrived in Killarney after drive from ferry at Rosslare and headed for the tourist info centre next to the car park, the guy advised we try the Mountain Dew which was just a short 2 minute drive away, we parked up and were greeted by Eileen, she showed us a choice of rooms and we settled in. From that point on we felt completely at home and were treated to the best breakfasts ever, the choice is endless and nothing is too much trouble for Eileen. We had a trap ride around Muckross House and the Torc waterfall which was stunning before setting off in the car on a tour round the ring of Kerry, there is so much fantastic scenery it is impossible to put it into words. We had a lovely meal in the smoke house (mussels and calamari), we also had a great meal at Quinlans (Plaice and chips), Dont miss a pony and trap ride at the Gap of Dunloe (Ted was our guide and was full of knowledge about the area). Last time I was here I was 8 years old and it still seems as I remember at the age of 51, We will return with more Doona's in tow, and will head back to The mountain Dew, Thanks a million Eileen.

We are so glad we stayed at The Mountain Dew. You are within walking distance of downtown Killarney and the Ross Castle in Killarney National Park. Eileen was a wonderful hostess, patient and made great recommendations for things to do and places to eat and enjoy trad music. This may not be the most modern of B&B's but I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a nice place with great food to stay that is comfortable and welcoming. My brother and I sat outside one evening enjoying some wine and both Eileen and Joe stopped by to say Hi! and ask us how everything was going. I could not ask for a more laidback, enjoyable place to stay and I really hope to make it back to the Mountain Dew!

My friend and I spent 3 nights at the Mountain Dew B&B in Killarney. We got there hours we before our scheduled arrival and it was no problem. Eileen already had our room ready and was so welcoming that I felt like I was returning home. In the morning, there was a plethora of delicious breakfast options. On our last day in the B&B, Eileen offered to move my friend and I to a larger room at no extra cost!! When we got back from our days adventures, she had moved all of our luggage over for us. As well as being a lovely place to lay our heads at the end of the day, the location is magnificent. We were a 20 minute walk or 4 minute drive from Ross Castle, a 10 minute walk to city center, a 2 minute walk from one of the entrances to Killarney National Park and a 1 minute walk from O'Connor's bus tours for a lovely ride around the ring of Kerry. I plan on visiting Killarney again and can't imagine staying anywhere else other than the Mountain Dew B&B.

Room Tip: Any room will be a great room.

Eileen certainly provides options. Snacks and drinks galore in the sitting room. Breakfast is bevy of continental choices before you begin to choose from the menu. All the breakfast choices we enjoyed were good and hearty. Location works well if you want to use O'Connell tours (just down the street. Just a short walk to the many restaurants/pubs in the city centre. Ross castle and the national park are also near by. We will be back.

We stayed at three B&Bs during our trip and The Mountain Dew was by far the most professionally run. We stayed for two days. The room was nicely sized (a twin and a double), with the best bathroom we'd seen yet, and the location was incredible. Downtown Killarney is just down around the corner. The morning breakfast was excellent and had several options to choose from, as well as an entire sideboard with every breakfast extra you can imagine. Check in and out was easy and our stay was overall very enjoyable.
