After visiting the Gap of Dunloe and Lord Brandon's Cottage we enjoyed the quaint and slightly kitschy Kate Kearney's Cottage. We enjoyed a round of Guinness & Bulmers plus a tasty treat of tempura shrimp and fried brie. It's easy to associate Kate's with overdone American traditions like Cracker Barrel, but It's not quite fair. The food and goods sold at Kate's are locally produced and benefit the local Killarney/Kerry community. We were told they employee 50 local folks. Kate's has been expanded to support large tour groups and can get busy, but they have the tables and staff to take good care of all of their guests.
