After visiting the Gap of Dunloe and Lord Brandon's Cottage we enjoyed the quaint and slightly kitschy Kate Kearney's Cottage. We enjoyed a round of Guinness & Bulmers plus a tasty treat of tempura shrimp and fried brie. It's easy to associate Kate's with overdone American traditions like Cracker Barrel, but It's not quite fair. The food and goods sold at Kate's are locally produced and benefit the local Killarney/Kerry community. We were told they employee 50 local folks. Kate's has been expanded to support large tour groups and can get busy, but they have the tables and staff to take good care of all of their guests.

We were sent here upon the recommendation of our B&B. It was a delightful diversion. Yes, it has a tourist shop (with some nice things). Yes, it can handle tour buses, but should maybe have a few more wait staff when they are planned. But, the food was good (had the salmon). Wine by the glass was fine. The music was nice - but we were in a more separated dining room by choice. You can even out outside, which I would suggest at lunch because the views of the mouth of the Gap of Dunloe were stunning. In a future visit, I would come back here to do more at the gap and Kate Kearney's would be a great starting point and ending point for a pint.

Authentic Tourist Trap with no airs and graces. It's a pub that time forgot but the food and staff were great and it is the authenticity of the place that invites you in and keeps you there! You can sit outside and marvel at the scenery if the weather is good too. Loved this place!

On our recent trip to Killarney Ireland we had the pleasure of stopping by Kate Kearney's Cottage several times. Situated at the entrance to the Gap of Dunloe, it is the perfect spot to enjoy some wonderful dinner as well as pub food, listen to music and see some of the most beautiful views of Ireland. Kate's has now been added to my "must see" list when you are in Ireland.

Highly recommend this restaurant, lovely food, great atmosphere, friendly and efficient service. Enjoyed the traditional bacon and cabbage. Music playing by talented band. Lovely gift shop with unusual Irish made products. Spacious out door area and breath taking views. As an Irish man living away from home the memories of the welcome here will be cherished. Til I get the chance to return again thank you, and slan go foil
