Description: Set above Bricín Shop, Bricín Restaurant and Boxty House is a well known name on the lips of many people. Opened in November 1991, its popularity is down to the fine food produced by Owner/Chef Paddy McGuire and by the warmth of welcome and hospitality shown front of house by Owner Johnny McGuire. Between them they have an exceptional product that has been 21 years plus in the making.

One of the best meals I've ever had...delicious food, great wine, lovely staff, gorgeous environment. We were lucky to have found this place (and to have gotten in!) I can't wait to return!

We booked an early supper and were seated at a table in the room overlooking the street. (non booked people seemed to be seated in a room further back?). Service was prompt, cheerful and well informed.
The home made walnut bread was delicious! I really enjoyed the seafood bisque, which was just right in terms of flavour and consistency. I had boxty, the speciality (a filled potato pancake) with tarragon chicken and loved it. My husband was less keen. If you are a fan of traditional comfort food, then this is the place for you!
They offer a restricted 'early' menu brom 6-6.45pm, 2 courses for €19, which seemed very good value for the quality and quantity of ood.
Give it a try!

We were recommended this restaurant by the guest house at which we were staying and in fact ate there on successive nights. The first night we arrived at 19.00 to find they were fully booked (they do early bird specials) but the manager said he could offer us a table if we were prepared to be "in and out" within 90 minutes. That suited us fine and the manager agreed that they would also make the necessary effort to meet the time constraints. We booked for the 2nd night!

We had an excellent meal and particularly enjoyed the boxty (house speciality) on the first night. The staff were all very pleasant and we had an enjoyable evening on both occasios. Don't be put off by having to get to the restaurant through a souvenir type shop on the ground floor. Once upstairs it is just like any other restaurant.
