I have stayed in the Clayton a few times now and this hotel really does the beautiful west of Ireland justice. You are always greeted with warm, friendly, helpful staff and the hospitality is second to none. I have had the pleasure of staying in both the standard and executive rooms and I must say both are equally spacious and luxurious with great value for money. Huge beds, flat screen TV's, seating areas and large opulent marble bathrooms are the standard at this hotel. There is secure parking on site. The bar food is very tasty, reasonably priced and has a great variety so there is something for everybody. I had the best Caesar salad I've ever had here. Breakfast was excellent, fabulous sausages and croissants..you definitely won't go hungry. This is a 5* hotel with better service and without the crazy prices. I'd reccomend it to anybody and I hope to be back very soon.

Just back from two nights in the Clayton Hotel. Our accommodation was clean, spacious and bright and the breakfast and table d'hote dinner were excellent. A special mention for our waitress Eileen in the dining room for dinner on our first night. But all the staff were courteous, efficient and friendly. The swimming pool, sauna and steam room were also very welcome during the recent warm weather. We got the bus in to Eyre Square from just across the road from the hotel and this saved us having to park in Galway. We look forward to visiting the hotel again in the near future.

Having read the recent reviews I feel we stayed at a different hotel, our stay was part of a tour of Ireland and there is the problem, this might be a good business stopover but it's no place for a tour group. The group consisted of thirty very well traveled people who had just come from a excellent hotel in Kinsale, the rooms are ok if you like that sort of thing but we never found a towel rail. That was a minor thing but our big problem was the restaurant , the service on the first night was a joke
the staff were young and showed no experience, the food was mediocre to say the least and a warm plate would have been nice. There didn't seem to be any adults in charge, people were missed out when food was served and we had to bring this to the attention of the waiting staff.
not a good experience, on a positive note the bar staff were great. Although this is not the hotels fault to say the the location is on the Dublin side of Galway is an under statement.

Just back from three nights stay in the Clayton Hotel. On arrival we were welcomed by a very frendly receptions . As we had requsted on booking a room with a walk in shower which they had for us very clean and comfortable with a lovely walk in shower. But on the the first day the toiled was not working propely and we had to report it to reception and the duty manger was called to see if any thing could be done .So he could not do any thing as it was at eight o clock at night all they could do was move us in to the another room as they did so .The girl on reception named Niamh did all she could to get another room but there was none avilable . She put a note up to say they had to move next morning to a room with a walk in shower and told us just to have our bags ready and they would move us while we were out and we just collect the key when we come back from our trip. On our return to the hotel that evening the duty manger Valerie met us and apolgised to us for all the moving we had to put up with and moved us into an Executive suit .We be staying there again .

I have stayed here quite a few times and always found it good. Staff are very nice and helpful and the rooms are bright and airy with comfy beds. Breakfast can be served in the room and that's a lovely treat - especially the morning you re checking out.. Food is reasonably good- I didn't find it stunning but it is quite good. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the city centre and taxis are about 11 - 14euro depending on traffic but there is a bus stop right outside the door which will take you right into the city centre. There is a nice swimming pool (nice for a swim before breakfast) and a small gym.
All in all this is a very good base hotel. I will stay here again when I'm up.

Room Tip: ask for a balcony room facing the bus stop - you get the sun in the morning

The rooms are clean and comfortable and the beds are Excellent, the most comfortable hotel bed that I have ever slept in. Also the internet connection is very good and is free of charge.
