Description: Mc Donagh's have been tantalising the taste buds of both Visitor and Local for four generations. The Family knowledge of Fish and dedication to their customers has earned them the reputation of being one of Ireland's best Seafood's Houses. Mc Donagh's is divided into two sections: In the Seafood Restaurant you will find a great variety of fish dishes on our menu. From native Clarenbridge Oysters, Salmon, Crab, Scallops,Prawns, Hake, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Haddock, Wild Mussels and Ray. Smoked Salmon from Connemara and whatever else the Fisherman can get his hands on. A new addition to our menu is Irish Rib Eye Steak from Mc Geough's Butchers Oughterard Co. Galway. In our Fish & Chips Bar the fish is cooked to order, and you are guaranteed the freshest of Chips, as our potatoes are peeled and cut on the premises. Our Fish & Chips can be eaten on the premises or taken away, we also have outside seating during the summer months.

I live by the sea and eat plenty of fish and chips, but this place really impressed us. Melt in the mouth battered plaice. The wooden tables by the fish & chip counter are quite fun and sociable.

I really like the way you have to share table with other customers because you can meet really interesting people. It's really rustic and so cheap! What I like most it's when there is a table outside and you can see people walking up and down the Shop Street

I live in a crescent of glorious chippers that stretches through Galway, Limerick and Waterford. Galway's star in this constellation is McDonagh's.

My order is their chicken breast meal and it's still on the bone, so you know it's legit. Their chips are just divine, proper stuffed with potato and cooked to perfection, just the right balance between fluffy and crispy. The atmosphere is great, very relaxed and there's a very homey feel to the whole place. Plenty of space, generous portions and the staff are very friendly.

Always a pleasure, exactly the place you want to go on a hot summer's day for good food and an ice cold drink.
