Description: One of Galway's most enduring restaurants, housed in one of the city's most iconic restaurant spaces, Ard Bia has always placed as much emphasis on community experiences and aesthetic stimulation as on serving great food in a fun environment. We believe in having roots in a place whilst having an identity that transcends location and takes inspiration from around the world.

Ard Bia's is a little expensive, but well worth it. I highly recommend the fish (especially salmon) as the portion is large and the fish is very fresh. The waiters and waitresses can usually tell you where all of their food and produce comes from which is great for a loca-vore. The wine menu is good and very reasonably priced. The wait staff is excellent at suggesting a wine to go with your meal. I was in Galway on a trip with my girlfriend and we wanted to do one slightly more expensive meal, and this was an excellent choice for that.

The restaurant (inside and outside) are also very quirky. The outside looks almost like a 16th century Spanish house, while the inside is cute with a lot of cool decorating ideas.

Food was lovely and freshly made and their coffee was great. Quirky spot on the edge of the city. Well worth a visit.

Dined on 27/06/2013 it was not what we had experenced on previous visits. Welcome leaves alot to be desired did not get our requested table with no apology. Seated under a stairs with in arms length of the gents toilet and kitchen and the traffic was hurrendous to each place.
Food was not up to standard and very pricey. Not all orders were fulfilled and the veg was reheated should have left after started but thought mains would be betted needless to say we did not have dessert or coffees. Do not think they will not be in business for long more as they have lost the plot!! plenty other great restaurants in Gayway .

We arrived at 730, no booking and the lovely waitress took our name and asked if we could come back at 830.. We were very keen to try this place as we had heard many good things so we went down the the pub for a drink until 830. One we arrived back we only waited a few minutes to be seated. We are two small girls but were so excited to try some of the entrees as when as our main. Entrees were a perfect size for us to share 2.. And they were Devine! Until our mains came out. We both got the hand caught hake with clams, mussels and chorizo. Oh my, words cannot explain how heavenly the taste was! We didn't want the meal to end. I highly recommend this place for a cost evening and just amazing food! Worth every penny and every minute waiting! Yum!

We were recommended to visit Ard Bia by a relative and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and informal. The decor was cosy and inviting however it was the food that made this restaurant so memorable. A nice choice of dishes at reasonable prices and lovely flavours.
Would highly recommend, definitely worth a visit if in Galway- worth making a reservation in advance to guarantee a table!
