We heard about the White Gables a few years ago and always promised ourselves we would go, well the opportunity arose at the beginning of the month at the end of a long trip around Connemara. We called up on the off chance thinking that on a saturday it would be too busy but we were in luck. Four of us sat down to the three course dinner menu for €38.50. I had a very tasty pork terrine to start and a very large rib eye steak with a pepper sauce as a main with creme caramel to finish. My partner had an avocado and orange salad to start, stuffed roast duckling as a main and a chocolate dessert to finish. The two kids had soup and steaks. The service is excellent, professional but friendly and unobtrusive. My daughter's steak was a bit too rare for her taste but it was given the extra cooking needed without any fuss just as we would expect in a restaurant such as this. There is a good wine list at good prices. All in all I would recommend White Gables and I will return sooner rather than later, it certainly made the trip from Scotland worthwhile.
