Description: Located in the historic Bridge Mills building, Il Vicolo is Galway's premiere destination for modern Italian dining. Come in and see the centuries old mill as you nibble on Beef Carpaccio or one of our homemade pastas. Or perhaps sit on Galway's only riverside terrace and watch the Corrib flow into the sea, all while sipping on a bottle from the city's largest selection of Italian Wines. See you soon!

Went there with a party of 5 on recommendation of 1 of participants. We had a very pleasant evening over the italian style tapas menu. On the guideline of what could please us a variation of small dishes came in adequate tempo. Wine list very ok as well. Prices as to be expected, but felt money well spent. When in Galway againwill revisit.

We had a fabulous time food was outstanding we went for 8 different tapas which each one was better than the other ... If I could pick a favourite it would be Ravioli or the Lamb

By moving here, the Il Vicolo crew have not only improved the location significantly (the Bridge Mills is probably the best restaurant spot in Galway, with its stone walls and windows overlooking the river) but also got to a good start towards a new concept of restaurant.
They created a wonderful selection of cicchetti, the Venetian version of tapas. There is great variety in them, ranging from meat (try the balsamic vinegar sausage!) to fish to many vegetarian options. That is to say, they have everything to become the best tapas place in town, a relaxed environment in which you can sit down with friends and taste, for a reasonable price, many bites of different delicious foods.
Why only four stars then, and not five? Well, I think that concept of a restaurant survives on rhythm - food comes in small bites, so it needs to be brought to the table at a reasonable speed. Instead, we sat there for a long time between each serving. I heard they're looking for more staff. If that's true, they're on the path to becoming the best restaurant in town. Looking forward to my next visit.
