1st visit to this hotel, put is a room at back of Hotel with awful views of a yard even though it was low season and not many people in the hotel. Hotel room was nice but down a long alley at end of hotel, the window beside me was letting in the rain and there was towels on window to absorb it. The cleaners had left two unsightly bags of laundry outside of one of the rooms for the full duration of my overnight stay. I ate in the main restaurant, food disappointing, Duck very tough not much imagination with vegetables but overall it was nice, well presented and did taste good. Was placed in not such a nice table even though the whole restaurant was almost empty, it would have been nicer to be placed in a seat with a better view. There was no fish available due to weather conditions. The breakfast was of a high standard, would definitely recommend it. The hotel is a bit dated and run down for the prices charged but its location is just excellent right in the heart of the city. Overall it was pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel, as they do not seem to value you as a customer when you ge...

Dear susancc737,

Thank you for posting review regarding your recent stay at hotel Meyrick. We take all our guest feedback seriously and in constructive manner.

We are glad to read that your overall stay was pleasant, but it was disappointing to read that it was not entirely to your satisfaction we would appreciate if all these issues were addressed with us during your stay.

This is not the feedback we normally receive regarding the food and we are sorry to hear that duck was not to your taste. We will make sure to pass on your comments to our chef.

Regarding the seating in the restaurant; people have different preferences some like to sit in the middle of the room, some in cozy dark corner and some prefer window seat and do a bit of a people watching. It is hard to guess what every guest prefers next time just mention to your server that you would prefer a different table.

You will be glad to hear that we have some major renovations planned for beginning of this year, so hopefully on your next visit to Hotel Meyrick you will be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you for your time and we hope to see you again in the near future.

Kind Regards
Hotel Meyrick

In September, my husband and I flew into Shannon Airport quite early in the morning from JFK Airport via Toronto, Canada. We have been to Ireland several times, but have always flown into Dublin. I made a reservation through Booking.com for one night at the Meyrick. I stayed there five years ago with a tour group and liked the location, the rooms and the food. I was told at the front desk that the hotel had been overbooked and they did not have a room for us. The clerk was quite apologetic as she did not have the authority to help us. She brought me some tea and scones and explained that the manager was unavailable to straighten out the situation. She mentioned that this does happen and that the manager could make other arrangements for us. We were extremely jetlagged, had come a long way to be disappointed. In the end, we walked down the street to another hotel, we were greeted by a lovely young girl and given a nice room. I am reluctant to book this hotel in the future.

Dear irishgirl198,

Thank You for taking time to post your review here on TripAdvisor. We value all our guest feedback.

We would like to sincerely apologise for the fact that our hotel was overbooked on the day of your arrival. We understand how inconvenient this was for you and your husband after traveling for so long. things like that normally do not happen in our hotel, but when they do our reservation team normally would have another hotel arranged by 10am (check in time is not till 3.30pm), but unfortunately, as I understand this was not an option in your case as you have arrived very early.

Again our apologies and we hope that this rocky start did not affect your overall holiday in Ireland too much.

Kind Regards
Hotel Meyrick

Stayed in this hotel for one night recently, was a little apprehensive give the poor reviews it has received recently but am so glad we stayed. It's a beautiful hotel, in a great location and i found the service excellent. From the valet parking (made even nicer by the fact it was lashing rain and you leave your car right outside the door for the valet), to the speedy check in, lovely room - in the annex but i still thought it was lovely. Beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfy. Breakfast is served until 10am, when we arrived down at 9.45 the room was full but a lovely woman took our room number told us to help ourselves to tea, coffee or juice which had been very efficently organised just outside the door to the breakfast room while we were waiting. Even though they were very busy, we were only waiting about 15 minutes, enjoyed breakfast, great selection. All in all, i'll definitely be back to the Meyrick, it has a fantastic location right in the middle of the city but yet the room was very quiet.

We got the rewarding times deal from the Irish times that allowed us a suite, 2 b&b and a dinner.
Suite.
We got a lovely room overlooking Eyre square. It had a kind of separate sitting room, a large table (would sit 4) and a good sized bed with a big bathroom. The big drawback was that the walls were very thin so we heard all the activities of the rooms on both sides. There is an executive suite (common room)also but it is very poorly stocked and the windows are ancient making the room a little chilly.
Thermal Suite.
The hot tub outside is nice but as it wasn't full meaning that you had to sit in the centre to keep your shoulders below the water which was necessary due to the cold weather. The jacuzzi is good. The steam room is great and very hot. My wife had a treatment (massage) and she said it was very good. As part of the deal there was a 30 minute session included, my wife took a 60 minute session but was only allowed 30 euro against this which seemed a little low.
Restaurant.
Breakfast is nice and has a reasonable variety but is nothing special. For dinner we had a great seafood salad. This was followed by slow cooked beef which was not that special. Desert was nice. Overall, the restaurant is nice but again, nothing special.

Overall - for bad weather it was great to be in the Meyrick as it is set in the city centre. The deal we got also was very good value specifically as we got a suite. It is a landmark hotel and I always enjoy staying there.

Stayed hear in April or May in 2013 with my father have to say beautiful hotel except for standard rooms which were small and grubby unlike rooms in the original part of hotel in February I would much prefer a superior room as asked for 1 last time and unavailable. I think I should receive this as the same price as standard room and will mention this matter over phone and hopefully A conclusion can be made as I do love this hotel thank you!

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. We stayed on NYE for two nights and were very disappointed with what we thought was going to be a 4 star hotel experience, given the amount the stay cost us.
Firstly, upon arrival, we were told to dump our car in the neighbouring train station car park as the hotel’s car park was full. Granted, this couldn’t be helped as we were informed that hotel parking was on a first come, first served basis.
We booked a standard double room, but were shocked to find a room as big as a shoebox awaiting us. This is no exaggeration, you literally could not swing a cat in this room. The room was in the annex part of the hotel, with the “picturesque” view of the train station car park. The bathroom was probably the smallest bathroom we’ve ever seen. You would honestly struggle to close the door when sitting on the loo. The shower head was basically a rusted garden hose head – zero power. The water from the shower always ranged from freezing to lukewarm, no matter what time of the day. The room had minimal toiletries and comforts – simple things like an iron and ironing board were amiss. We’ve stayed in four star hotels before and have received simple things like bottled water in the room when we arrived. The room also had an odour that resembled a stale curry.
We booked a package deal with breakfast included, so opted to have breakfast in our room on New Year’s morning. We were charged €12 for this privilege on checkout, even though we had paid everything in advance.
We had treatments in the spa area on our first day and were left waiting for twenty minutes in a “relaxation room” that sounded like it had a broken extractor fan. Not very relaxing. We would normally expect to be shown to the changing area and given robes etc but we were left sitting in our civvies for this period. As a spa therapist myself, I would have expected a higher standard of treatment, given that this is supposedly a four star hotel. We had previously stayed in the Pillo hotel and used their spa and found it to be a 5 star spa experience in comparison. There were only two therapists working on the day so there was a clear shortage of staff here, no fault of their own.
There doesn’t seem to be a middle ground in the hotel in terms of accommodation – it’s either peasant rooms that are passed off as double rooms or plush executive suites. All in all, it has an air of snobbery about the place.

Hello,
I had the misfortune to be given a present for a 2 night stay with B/B in this establishment. I say misfortune because from start to finish, that's what I/we got. Our breakfast was ok'ish, apart from children running all over the place, noise at night was terrible, hardly slept a wink. One thing's for sure, the staff and management at this so called 4 star Hotel would need to get their fingers out for a 24 hr service. They might be up to standard for a few hours in the day, but on our stay they were pretty deplorable. I stay quite a lot in Hotels, mainly 4 stars, this is not anywhere near any of them, doesn't even come near. If I am ever unlucky enough to get another present of a stay here, I'm afraid I will be politely refusing it

Room Tip: The 5th floor has reportedly been revamped, try and book there.

Dear bullseye186609,

Thank you for your review. Although we are grateful for taking time to share your experience at Hotel Meyrick with others It was very disappointing to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us.

We understand that not every guest enjoys company of kids while having their morning or evening meal, but it is up to parents of the children to ensure kids are behaving themselves and unfortunately sometimes this is out of our control.

Regarding your comments on service throughout your stay; we would appreciate if this was addressed with us directly during or after your stay, as the only way for us to improve our service is by knowing where we need an improvement. This is not the feedback we normally receive regarding our service levels (as you can read in many reviews on TripAdvisor) so we would appreciate if you could get in contact with us to specify where we went wrong on this occasion.

Thank you once again for your time and we hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards
Hotel Meyrick
