“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed one night at the Marless House during our honeymoon. Mary and her husband were excellent hosts and extremely welcoming. The bed and breakfast was cozy and the rooms in great shape. The breakfast was incredible and one of the best I have ever had. Great location in the seaside area of Salthill. A short walk to many nice restaurants and pubs in the Salthill area. Thank you for a great stay.

We stayed at Marless House for our weekend in Galway. After reading review after review to find the Best B & B in Ireland, we definitely found it in Marless House. The house was lovely, our accommodations fantastic and Mary was an absolutely perfect hostess. She found her calling nearly four decades ago and she just keeps on giving! Her breakfast was delicious, all home-made, authentic Irish in flavour and with six people in our group, we tasted everything she had to offer. Actually, I think my college aged son tasted everything all in one sitting.

The location was also terrific in the Salt Hill area. We walked into town along the promenade, which was a beautiful walk, in and of itself. If I were to return to Galway, I would not hesitate to return to Mary and her wonderful home.

Room Tip: Each of the rooms are beautiful.

Stayed two nights. Tea and cakes on arrival. Clean, warm, comfortable & quiet with spacious rooms. Fantastic breakfasts made to order while you wait in a common dining room - perfect porridge and pancakes! Free wifi. Perfect hosts - very friendly, chatty, informative and helpful on what to see and where to eat. 15 minute walk along the beach promenade to lots of pubs and restaurants, or a very quick drive to parking in the heart of Galway. Sorry to have to leave - hope we can stay again one day.

We stayed 2 nights at Marless house which is run by Mary and her husband Tom. The B & B is in Salthill which is just outside Galway. Its only a stone throw to the promenade and then a short walk to the restaurants in Salthill. If you want to go into Galway town, a shot jump in a bus.The accommodation was excellent in all respects. The breakfast, was as others have said before me, was fresh and well cooked (little fat). I had hired a rental car for 24 days in England and as Mary suggested our taking a local coach day tour, I jumped at the chance for a rest. She booked with The Galway Tour Company, adult cost Euro 25 senior 20. It was a steal. Our driver was Gary who was really excellent. We did another tour further south from Tralee which trip advisor said a particular driver was also excellent but this was not the case. We had passed places of interest just as he started telling us and did not evaluate. Anyway if you go to Galway do the Connemara Cong tour. The best tour we had in Ireland. The dingle peninpullia area 2nd best, Ring of Kerry 3rd.We would happily go back to Marless House anytime. A great area, and a top B & B. Mary was wonderfull and very pleasant host.

Mary welcomed us at the door and made our visit to Galway so much more personal! Her bed and breakfast is immacuately kept and is warmly welcoming. My sister, my dad and I looked forward to chatting with Mary each morning and we so enjoyed her 'big Irish" breakfasts!' She always asked us our plans for the day and then asked how she could help us? She set-up a wonderful tour of Connemara for us with bus pick-up and drop-off at her front door. Every so often you meet a person who's doing exactly what they are meant to do. Mary Marless seems to have found her calling which is as an ambassador of Galway, Ireland. Thank you Mary for introducing us to your city and your home!

We stayed here before and it was great to stay again. The house is beautifully decorated and is spotless throughout. Mary's breakfasts are so tasty and all freshly prepared with great care and attention. Tom recommended Lohan's Bar and Restaurant in Salthill and we had a very enjoyable evening meal there. The b and b is located at the end of the promenade, so it is an easy walk from their house into Salthill. Salthill is beside the sea and an area worth visiting, because of its restaurants, its lovely long promenade to walk and its close proximity to Galway city. When in Galway visit the Christmas Shop in the Treasure Chest shop.

Room Tip: All the rooms look great!

We spent three weeks in Ireland and England and Mary's breakfasts were definitely the best. Comfortable, attractive rooms and a good location. You can walk to the promenade, catch a shuttle bus to the Aran Islands ferry, and easily drive out of town to tour the area.
