“Delightful B&B”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Thoughtful hospitality and comfy B& B. Very welcoming and interested host and hostess greeted us. Marie & Michael were very kind and helpful upon our arrival to go to Salthill for dinner. They served delicious breakfast choices with dining overlooking the garden. Marie is very thoughtful and asks for the days plans to give any travel assistance that would make your stay more enjoyable. Lovely location and very welcoming.

I'm happy to give a big thumbs up to this place
Michael and Marie are welcoming and friendly and very importantly relaxed. We had the fried breakfast and it was tasty and filling and nicely cooked.
The room is fine and big. What's impressive as well is that it appears to be purpose built as a B&B. The bathroom is not just an en suite. It feels like a separate room and with toilet and shower well separated from each other. (sometimes bathrooms can feel as if they're in the bedroom!)
And a big plus - a very powerful shower.
The B and B is a bit of distance out from the city centre - which was our focus for our night in Galway but it's near to Salthill so would be very handy for those heading westwards on excursions. The walk to the city centre is pleasant when dry, but dry days in Galway are at a premium!
Overall a relaxing stay, good night's sleep, good food. Good luck to them!

My husband and I stayed at Abbeylee and were delighted with the location, the grounds, the hospitality, the breakfast fare, and the luxurious room. Having spent the day hiking in Connemara, we were happy to walk along the Promenade at Salt Hill along Galway Bay (just blocks from Abbeylee), but we did not want to do the walk into City Centre (which would normally have been our choice, as it seems quite do-able). So, Marie suggested easy bus routes for the trip into City Centre which worked perfectly. Even on a Monday night, the Promenade and the city were lively. The B&B seems to have been planned to include the family home on one side and the guest rooms on the other, even with special building materials used to keep the guest rooms quieter. There was a comfortable living room just for guests in case we wanted to congregate. The back yard garden was splendid. We loved opening our bedroom window to allow the sea air in. Marie helped us choose a place to stop on our way to Dublin, which turned out to be one of our favorite historical sites in Ireland, Clonmacnoise. This B&B has a simple elegance. We could easily have stayed longer and loved every minute.

My husband and I were in Galway for our 'holiday' in June. I couldn't believe when I was actually sad to leave Abbeylee at the end of our 3 day stay. Mike and Marie were the most excellent hosts; we felt so welcomed in their home. The breakfast was the best we had our whole stay in Ireland and there was a huge selection! The beds were so incredibly comfortable; they did not spare any expense. They also kept our large suitcases for a night when we went to Inishmore. I highly recommend this b&b to anyone! If we are ever lucky enough to be back in Galway, I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else!

We stayed here in late May and absolutely loved it! There were 3 of us traveling so we secured a larger room - everything felt very spacious. Loved the complimentary amenities in the bathroom and free wifi. Mary and Mike were lovely and so accommodating with directions and tips on things to do. We stayed for two nights and made the most of our time. Although you have to take a cab into town, it's super close so very affordable. We attempted to walk the first day and Mary passed us on the road, pulled over and offered a ride into town! She was too sweet! We also drove out to the Cliffs of Moher one day and it was spectacular! Definitely go later in the day (a tip from Mary) to avoid the tour buses. The sun doesn't set until 10 in the summer months, making for spectacular views! The morning breakfast selection was excellent and cooked to perfection. Would definitely stay here again should we have the opportunity to do so.

Just returned from Salthill. Had the pleasure of staying at Abbeylee with my daughter at a concert in the town. Rooms were spotless and very comfortable, breakfast was lovely and the welcome very warm. Highly recommended
