“Would not stay there again.”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

Christina provided the best breakfast we had on our trip to Ireland, with a beautifully cooked Irish breakfast on cracking hot plates. The perc coffee was great as well. But there were disappointments. When we arrived, I had to knock on the locked door until Christina arrived. When I said we had a booking she replied, "no you haven't". On checking, she conceded we did and let us in. We were shown to a beautiful room and had just settled in when she asked to move to an inferior and smaller room (double bed and single although we had asked only for a double bed room) - because we had booked only one night and she had a booking for 3 nights. If we were not so tired, we would have left then. Then we were told that a birthday party was being held that night, to keep our window closed. It was very noisy and kept us awake until midnight. If we had been recompensed in some way (such as a complimentary breakfast), we would not have left feeling so aggrieved. Overall the experience was unpleasant.

Hostess Christina was a delight. We were there during a slow period, so she spent a lot of time chatting with us about her life, making suggestions on things to do, and seeing to it that we enjoyed our time in the Galway area. Internet service was a bit iffy (not good in the room, but fine in the parlor), but Christina said she's been trying to get the utility people to fix that and it probably has been done by now.

This B&B has a beautiful view of the harbor. We stayed in a back room (for a larger bed) so could not see the view from our room, but there is a lovely balcony at the front of the house available to all the guests. The location is especially suitable if you have a car. Salt Hill is well situated for getting into Galway, and also for touring the Connemara region and for getting a boat to the Aran Islands (all highly recommended).

Stayed here for 2 nights. I felt like home, the room was perfect, the breakfast was delicious and the hosts were too good to us. It was a perfect long weekend off. We will be back as soon as we can take a few days off!

Very cosy , feels like home. The owners are excellent. They really want to make sure that you make the best of your visit to Ireland. They gave us excellent suggestions on where to go. Thumbs up to that! Parking is convenient, right in front of the house. Breakfast is wholesome.

Payment is by cash.

We arrived unannounced, off the street to see if there were any vacancies. Luckily for us, Christina made us very welcome and we soon felt like we had settled into a home away from home. We only wanted one night but quickly decided to stay for two. Great breakfasts, happy to meet requests and very knowledgeable about the local area. Tidy and comfortable bedrooms and a lovely house with fabulous views. What makes this B&B stand out are the hosts. Thank you Christina and family for making our stay feel just like home.

My daughter and I visited Galway in Mid September of 2013 and arrived unannounced on Christine's doorstep. Christine kindly had a delightful room available for us and also suggested where we might like to go for dinner - the local golf club with views of the setting sun on Galway Bay.
The next morning we were treated to a breakfast to die for and Christine joined us and chatted to us about Galway and her business running a B&B. This was a lovely personal touch that put the icing on the cake for our visit as we were made to feel special and not just a paying customer.
On leaving, Christine gave us directions to enable us to go shopping in Galway City and provided excellent suggestions for parking to make it easy for us to enter and leave the City area.
Will certainly stay with Christine if we have the opportunity to return to Galway.
