Clean rooms, good food in adjacent bar/restaurant. Located just a few blocks from main square of Galway - a short 2 min walk. Friendly staff. Wished we could have stayed more than 1 night, but being on a budget didn't want to splurge on a more expensive room on the weekend. Good value for the price. Couldn't have asked for more, would stay here again!

The hotel is just north of Eyre Square and has free parking, which is a big plus as we ended up paying 10 euro per night to park elsewhere. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with very spacious bathrooms as well. Very good value with the included breakfast, which included a vast array of cold options as well as hot, made to order entrees. It is an older building, but does have an elevator (also an upgrade from many other hotels in town)! Well kept up overall. They were very nice as well when we somehow left behind a camera in the room. They e-mailed us to see if we had left anything behind, and held it for us until we came later in our trip to pick it up. We stayed at 4 different hotels in Ireland, and this was definitely the best one.

The hotel has a really good location just off the main square in Galway, its basic but actually very good.

It has a sense of an old fashion B&B but the rooms are a good size and well equipped for the standard of hotel. The car parking was a bit strange but well managed

The food was very good and they do offers £15 pp for a 3 course meal and bottle of wine!

The staff were very helpful and the hotel was clean

Only complaint I had was the matress - lumpy and uncomfortable

But I would recommend this hotel

We spent 2 nights in this hotel this week-end, and we were pleasantly surprised with the standard of service at all levels dining room, reception, bar and even the parking attendant was a pleasure to meet. Have travelled the world staying at hotels and on cruise liners and the service in this hotel would match the best of them. Thank you staff of WESTERN HOTEL GALWAY.

I was staying here while on a training course, got the single room with b&b which was excellant value. Room was very clean if a little dated looking but had all I needed. I found the bed and pillows very comfortable, suffer from chronic back pain but found no trouble sleeping. Food in the bar was excellant as well and a decent pint of Smithwicks! Majority of staff very friendly and approachable, but there was an exception, and willing to help when I needed it.

The only downside was the wireless connection for the internet which seemed to be very temberamental. It was only cured when the reception gave me a dongle which made a great improvement.

We stayed in this hotel on a Sat night whilst in galway to meet and go out with friends. The hotel is in a perfect location, walking distance to everything and easily found. The room was spotlessly clean and bed very comfortable, shower was excellent, breakfast however was poor but all in all good hotel if you just need somewhere to sleep in good location with a good price. Parking is free too
