Very non-touristy pub with excellent genuine, informal trad music upstairs. It was my favorite experience of our 12 days in Ireland.

It's a real old-style Irish pub with traditional music played any day of the week. I love how new musicians arrive and just join in, or a couple leave and it still sounds smoothly transitioned.
There's always good craic and atmosphere and the Guinness is decent.

This place is very local, a small pub outside of the touristy city center. It has live trad music most nights by local musicians. The crowd in this pub is more likely to be locals than the crowds you encounter in pubs on Shop Street or High Street or Quays Street.

We've gone to several pubs around Galway to find traditional Irish music and this wins, hands down! Typical pub but when the musicians gathered - I was in awe! Although a bit bummed that it doesn't serve food but there was a very inexpensive pizza joint (Four Stars Pizza) that was pretty decent just a half block down.

Galway has got a relaxed atmosphere that is hard to find in other European cities. Crane bar is a pub where people drop in with their instruments for a pint and to play music together. There used to be several pubs like this in Galway but I think Crane Bar and The Rosin Dub are the last ones today. Called the last hippie town of Europe, being a student and artist town, with all kinds of festivals thruogh the summer, and people who jumped off a busy and well paid career in London to enjoy a slow life on the beautiful west coast. Good memories!
