Recently played Galway Golf Club during a visit to Ireland. The personnel were very gracious and helpful. We had to rent clubs and the clubs were surprisingly current. In fact, the driver was better than the one I own! The course is relatively short, but challenging. The first four holes play right on Galway Bay and the scenery is beautiful. Then the course heads up into the hills. The holes were fairly hilly but walking the course was no problem. The greens were very true and relatively fast. There was a regional qualifier for the Ireland Women's Club Championship going on that day (fortunately they teed off after us!), and this may be why the course was set up relatively fast. Overall, if you are in Galway, this is easy to get to (ten minutes by cab from downtown Galway). Being from the southern USA, it also is fun to say that I played on a course designed by Sir Alistair MacKenzie, the designed of Augusta National!
