“a refreshing and welcoming b+b”

my friends and i had two nights in Galway after a week in Connemara. we arrived earlier than we'd stated but were made very welcome by Russell. we appreciated the map with recommendations on places to eat/ drink. the stop is in a great location for exploring Galway city. A refreshing change to have a B + B with a more contemporary feel (and an amazing modern art collection!). The breakfast was wonderful and it was a good idea to have the drink making facilities in the shared lounge as we could chat with other guests. The bathroom door was stiff but it was sorted out as soon as we mentioned it. would definitely recommend.

The room was perfect for a one or two night stay. As tiny as it was, the room worked great for two people. Russell and Emer were the perfect host and hostess too! My friend and I became lost in our rental car looping around downtown Galway. We were only rescued after receiving detailed directions from Russell through our panicked calls! Many thanks for that and the lovely breakfast in the A.M. Your artfilled house was so warm and loving, we felt right at home. It made our holiday that much more special. Thanks again!

Room Tip: Reserve early!

We spent the first two days of our trip at the stop and it was the perfect welcome to Ireland. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, Russell sat down with us over breakfast and helped us plan our routes for the days ahead. The food was great, and the entire home is impeccably clean, warm and welcoming. After two weeks of touring Ireland, it was still my favorite stop. I also highly recommend going to the Old Forge pub for music at night!

My son and I spent 2 nights here before going on a Trail ride in Connemara. We arrived early, but were greeted by one of the staff who let us store our bags so we could explore Galway until we could get in our room. Room was spartan, but spotless. Breakfast was very good and the best thing was the map they provided with notes on various bars and restaurants and the service we witnessed. On our last day there was a young woman who said she did not have time for breakfast because she was going on a tour. Russ called the tour company and arranged for them to pick her up across the street rather than walk downtown. This allowed her to relax and have breakfast. How extraordinary that he cared enough to ask everyone staying if they needed any help with their plans for the day!

We were made to feel very Levine. Russell met us at the door and he and Emer were there to help us with every detail of our stay. My one issue was that there was a little mold on the ceiling in our bathroom, which caused both if my mild-sensitive companions to have some significant allergy issues while we were there. Overall a very pleasant stay.

We booked The Stop before we left the US having tried 2 or 3 other places and found them fully booked. Our room (#11) was on the third floor which was OK but was also on the front of the house and there was significant traffic noise. If you decide to stay here I would specifically ask for a room at the back. Our room was comfortable but sparsely furnished (think Scandinavian) but the bed was comfortable after an overnight flight.
Parking was tight but very secure and gave good access to the house. Our hosts were charming and had plenty of local knowledge to share and did so willingly. It is a short walk in to town and if you need to shop there is a good sized supermarket across the street. So The Stop met our needs well after an overnight flight.

We stayed two nights at the stop b&b - really liked the decor, lots of framed posters from various cultural events and a very modern feel to the place. Russel and Emer made us feel very much at home and the common room meant that you could chill out with a cup of tea when you felt like it! Our room was slightly plain but I know from their blog that the rooms are gradually getting a facelift so I'm sure they'll add a hint of colour soon - we did catch a glimpse of some of the others and they were lovely! In any case, we'll definitely return and would recommend this spot to young couples in particular!

Room Tip: We were at the top of the house and were not bothered by any noise that way.
