“Cannot fault Marriott”
Reviewed September 1, 2008

Stayed in Marriott for a weekend with friends for a Spa weekend. Room immaculately clean, very good choice at breakfast, and all staff were very professional and friendly. A good choice and five minute drive from city centre.
Only drawback is the busy road beside this hotel.

Ok it has a convenience store and petrol station attached and is a bit out of the centre but this is more than made up for by the quality of the rooms, the very helpful staff and the value for money this hotel represents. Check in was friendly and efficient, Staff were very good.

Pro

Excellent Rooms
Very Confortable Beds
Fridge in Room
Helpfull and efficient Staff
Free Secure Parking
Value for money (€125 room only with 2 double beds)
Ultra Clean Room and Ensuite

Con

A bit out of the centre of Galway in a commercial area (but very quiet)
Petrol Station and convenience store part of ground floor (handy for those forgotten items)

This is typical of a business hotel. No faults as regards staff or cleanliness but not in a holiday area. There is a retail park beside the hotel and a service station incorporated into the ground floor of thebuilding. Not a hotel for a room with a view unless you fancy looking at a giant inflatable tiger which is over the canopy of the forecourt. We were in other hotels in this area and all the others had free broadband. But not this. It did have conference facilities. OK for business travellers. Not my idea of a break away hotel. It is about 20 mins. walk to the centre and 3 miles from Salthill.

galway city. As it was also our anniversary we decided to make a weekend of it. I booked this hotel which was close to the wedding through a supervalu break which included two nights b+b and one evening meal. I have passed this hotel on numerous occasions and the interior is very chick and welcoming so don't be put off entering. I would highly recommend to all. The room was fab with a 6ft bed and spotlessly clean. It had all that could be needed including a small fridge which was handy. We found staff in all areas of the hotel very helpful and professional. Breakfast was very good with all you can eat. Staff here were very good and something I have not come by before which impressed me was tea arrived and was poured for you........nice touch. We found the staff at breakfast as attentive as when we had our evening meal which was superb. Plenty of tasty delicous food. Breakfast at weekends is up to 11am if you fancy a lie in. Overall a very nice well run hotel and I would definetly return

  • Liked — everything but staff very good and food superb. Also music in bar vy good and entertaining
  • Disliked — nothing

My husband and I stayed at this hotel last weekend (June '08). The rooms were very clean and a decent size. Bathroom was nice with a good shower.

The staff at the hotel were excellent. Everyone was really friendly and helpful and service during meals was really good. We asked for a quiet room and that's what we got. The only downfall on the room is the noise from the air conditioning although you get used to it as it's a constant noise and we didn't have any trouble sleeping with it on. Also if you are there for a romantic weekend then I'd recommend getting a double bed rather than a king size bed, as the king size bed is really only two singles pushed together and dressed as one bed and so the middle of the bed can be a little uncomfortable in a king.

We ate dinner at the hotel the first night which was ok. My salad was a bit limp but the pizza was nice enough although I'm not sure I'd eat dinner there againa as there are lots of other nice restaurants in Galway. Breakfast was really good. Despite the fact that it was very busy at breakfast the staff did a really good job of catching up if stuff ran out or if tables were not set.

I also got a facial in the spa there which was really nice although a little on the pricy side.

The location is perhaps not it's strongest point but there are lots of taxis outside the door whenever we were there.

I would definitely stay there again if we came back to Galway.
