“Very nice stay”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

We just stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Overall it was a very nice stay. We booked an executive room which was very spacious. We were on the first floor (room no 124), our view was terrible, looking straight out onto a roof. By the looks of the floor layout of the hotel, I think that all executive rooms have a bad view as they are all on top of each other. The view didn't bother us though. The only fault of the room was from my fiancé as the hair dryer broke (seemed to overheat). Not the end of the world!!!.

The location is good- 15 mins walk to eyres square. We walked it once, it was fine! Other times we just got a taxi. Taxis always seemed to be outside the hotel and cost 7-8 euro into town.

The breakfast was the best thing about our stay, I was lovely. Well done to the chef, both mornings was the same, with all items within the buffet cooked perfectly.

Will definitely return to this hotel on my next trip to galway.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. I was happy to read that you enjoyed your breakfast so much. I will pass on your feedback to the chef. Our location and close proximity to local shops and the city centre is a plus for many of our guests. Please apologise to your fiancé about the hairdryer. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Galway.
Kind Regards,

Having stayed there for six nights I certainly got a feel for the hotel and the city itself -- both of which were absolutely charming. The hotel staff provided excellent service and there always someone with a smile and "good morning" to greet you. visited the bar area several times during my visit and there, too, the staff were quite attentive. I was able to walk to downtown Galway where I had such fun exploring the different shops, restaurants and cafes. Not once, did I feel uncomfortable being by myself. The graciousness of the Irish people was so greatly appreciated.

Stayed here for one night in may. Lovely modern hotel, good service, good breakfast, only gripe was a little pricey, but your prob not gonna get much better unless you go lower standard for the money.

Stayed here for 3 nights, got a great mid-week deal and was not disappointed. The hotel was easy to find. Don't be put off when you see it is near the road, ask for a room at the back and you will sleep soundly. Great location to stroll into the city centre, although a taxi doesn't cost much to get there. We were also able to drive to connemara from here, so location is perfect. The staff were extremely helpful, and even provided me with slippers after a night on out in the town.

We just spent a week in Galway and stayed at the Pillo. We got the room for a very good price and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was not ready upon arrival so we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar. The hotel bar is very nice, every bartender we had was very friendly and the prices were good. Our room was very spacious, the bathrooms were large and very clean. The only thing about this hotel is the location. It is about a 15 minute walk to the city center which wasn't a problem for us, we walked it everyday but if you want to be downtown this hotel is not for you. There is a gas station right next to the hotel where you can get snacks and water and there is also an ATM. I would return to this hotel, it's well priced and the rooms are nice, it's quiet at night and the walk downtown isn't bad.

This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to centre of Galway, if that's an issue perhaps you should consider somewhere closer (or take a taxi)
Having said that, it wasn't for us. We requested a quiet room and got a lovely big double room which was very quiet away from street noise.

Better than expected standard of room. Large, clean and very functional.
Breakfast was a fairly varied selection most of which was good quality.

Got it at a fairly good rate, so in summary

A better than expected hotel, with a good breakfast and lovely room .

Would definitely stay again.
