We stayed in the Pillo over Easter. Great rooms, great buffet breakfast and efficient, helpful, friendly staff in all areas from Reception to the restaurant and Bar. Good parking underground and a small gym with enough equipment to take away the guilt of the big breakfast you just ate. Some nice touches like free newspapers, free fruit in Reception and Ice machines. The location is 15 minutes walk from the centre of Galway yet it is just far enough outside to leave easy access to Salthill, Barna and Connemara beyond with having to go through the heavy city traffic, and it always seems to be heavy !

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post your very kind review on your Easter break with us. We were delighted to read that you were so happy with the service and facilities in the hotel. It was good that you managed to avail of our free undeground parking and that you found our location to be convenient and also within easy access for touring Connemara. I have passed on your kind feedback to the team and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
Kind Regards,
Siobhan Burke

I work for a large company and this hotel was layed on by the company. The hotel was nice. Rooms good but always seemed to be a lot of noise through the windows from outside. The gym is terrible, I wouldn't call it a gym, however if its a treadmill you want then your elected.... Reception nice and I liked the ice machines on the floors just outside the lifts....... I had an initial problem with a unit that was supposed to house a fridge but there was no fridge. Also the heating was quite frankly terrible. They brought me up a portable heater........ The air on com heating unit pumped out the same temp no mater what setting you had it at...... Breakfast was nice... A great range to chose from fresh and hot. The staff where great. Warm and friendly and very nice. The hotel is well situated for the town centre. Yes it is outside the town centre but is still quite close to all amenities including MacDonalds a cinema Tesco Dunnes and so on....... I sampled the hotel food only on a few occasions on my 2month stay and it was not to bad however expensive.... But then most hotels are..... With all my bad points please remember I was there for 2months I have to make it my home while away working......... For a weekend away to Galway I would defo recommend to anyone.... Great rooms great staff great breakfast and great location......... Thumbs up !!!!!

Room Tip: Perhaps away from the main road as I did experience road noise...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review and for the business that you and your company gave to us. We do appreciate it and I hope that we can look after you again if you are on business in Galway in the near future. If you do stay with us, please let us kmow that you would prefer a room near the Courtyard area, as it may be a bit quieter here and we will also esnure that the heating is operating correctly. I am glad that you enjoyed our breakfast offering and found our location to be convenient for nearby shops and the cinema. It was lovely to read that over your 2 months, that you were looked after by the team and that you would be happy to recommend the hotel as a place to stay. We look forward to welcoming you back.
Kind Regards,
Siobhan Burke

Cant really understand some of the "not so good" reviews i have read on this hotel. Some people you will never please no matter how good a hotel is as they will find fault with even the smallest defect.
Five of us stayed for two nights over Paddys weekend and none of us could fault the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean.Food was very nice and not expensive.Cant ask for much more really.

Room Tip: Book a room facing the courtyard.

I recently went to the Pillo as part of a group of 9 for Paddy's weekend. We hadn't really researched before we booked or flew so it was a tad further out of town centre than we thought - but not bad, about 15 minutes walk from Eyre Square so could be much worse. The hotel has a secure underground car park and is next to a petrol station and Spar shop (both quiet and convenient). The gym has a few bits of modern equipment which is handy. I didn't try the spa simply due to time and other commitments but the prices were all good for the length of treatments. The food in the Olive Bistro was superb for lunch and dinner and the breakfast was good (as long as you get in earlier than 9:30 ish). The rooms are a good size & include an iron and hair dryer as well as an ethernet cable for using internet on business trips (the wifi is only in public areas). There is a fridge & ice bucket in each room too which is good for having a chilled glass of wine or a beer before going out or after dinner.
Overall, each member of our group (aged between 20-52) had a fabulous time at the Pillo :)

Room Tip: Rooms 109, 209 & 309 are HUGE as are rooms 125, 225 & 325 (these three are disabled access rooms with a wetroom instead of bathroom ensuite)
