Stayed recently (Sept 2012). The hotel itself is very nice, rooms were spotless. The Bar food (we didn't eat in the restaurant) was really good as was the buffet breakfast (Loads of food - yum!). The staff were very nice and helpful as well. My only problem was the location - the walk into the city centre along the Headford Road isn't very nice due to the sheer volume of traffic, which never seems to stop! We didn't use the Spa facilities, so no report on them.

18 of us stayed in The Pillo Hotel for 2 nights for a hen party. We had a super time.

Staff were so friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was lovely both mornings.
Dinner was fantastic, loads of food and really good presentation.
Cocktails and Canapès were unreal,so much of both.
The spa was lovely, all appointments on time and staff really helpful. Lovely thermal suite
Rooms were lovely and very clean.
Car park: free.
Value for money was excellent.

A huge thanks to Sinead who organised everything and her attention to detail was excellent.
Algis and Finnian (night porter) were both very helpful and friendly.
All staff were excellant, thanks so much for a great weekend.

Stayed on a Monday for only one night. Found the staff to be very friendly and there was a nice welcome pack given to all the kids......a great idea.

Hotel was clean, breakfast was great. If the hotel had been a little closer to the city it would have made the stay better but somethings can't be helped.

Room Tip: If travelling with children and in need of a room in Galway, this is the place for you. Restaurant...

I stayed in the pillo hotel in galway for three nights in september 2012. The hotel is quiet, rooms spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent. It is only 15 minutes walk to galway city centre. Free parking is a real plus. Staff were very efficient and non-intrusive. I would definitely stay there again. Price is reasonable compared to other galway hotels.

When we arrived we were in for a treat. The hotel was full and we were upgraded to the penthouse suite. The suite has a huge sitting room, kitchen, and dining area for 8 people. The bedroom had a queen size bed and a huge bathroom. There was an outside walkway but as the sun refused to shine it was very cold. We were on the over 55s special B&B + 2 dinners for €129pp. The hotel is modern but the bar area is quite small. Not too sure if you can sit in the restaurant area which is next to the bar. There are complimentary papers which is great for the person travelling alone. The food is good and well presented and the staff are friendly. The only fault I could find was that on the first night I ordered steak. The person who took the order did not change the knife to a steak knife, the person who brought the order did not notice I did not have a steak knife. A waiter who was passing did notice it and brought a steak knife. For those of you reading this and thinking how petty can you get I can only say in my defence that as I teach customer service I like to see from time to time how long it takes for the staff to notice that something is not right. I am not a great one for walking but I found the walk into the city was fine especially if you walked along the shops and could look at the different items for sale.

Having read some fairly negative reviews, we were somewhat wary of what we would find here. Overall our stay was most enjoyable. The hotel is modern and contemporary in style throughout but not garish. From Check-in to Check-out we found all personnel to be that careful balance of friendly but professional. Rooms were spotless - with a couple of negatives. We had 2 rooms - one of which has a non-working fridge while the other room had a working fridge which had a distinct 'fusty' odour. And yes, as previously mentioned by others, the A/C was far from silent. Neither of these issues were considered as critical items but could be to others. We reported both to Management on check-out and hopefully they are now resolved.
Breakfast was absolutely fine with a wide range of choices. Beverages were served in insulated pots which meant the tea/coffee remained hot for the entire meal.
Enjoying the delights of Galway City, we did not eat in the restaurant but from a glance at the menu it seemed varied and well priced.
The bar on Sun 9th Sept had an excellent duo singing Tex-Mex, Cajun and Mexican songs with music and harmonies to the highest standard - slightly amplified but in no way obtrusive to conversation. Well done Guys ! We would return to listen to them anytime.
The Spa looked wonderful - but we had no opportunity to sample it. Next time maybe !
This hotel is about 15/ 20mins walk from Eyre Sq - but we found Taxis immediately available outside the hotel and reasonably priced. Also for return journey.
And an overall opinion of Hotel Pillo ? EXCELLENT VALUE AND A HIGH STANDARD THROUGHOUT. We are already planning another visit when we get the opportunity.

Room Tip: Roads are quite busy in the area. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the upper floors.

I stayed here as part of a hen party which i had organised. From first contact with the hotel when making enquiry,I found reservation department very helpful. On arrival at hotel, reception were well organised with all group details on hand and key cards ready. Bar staff friendly and the breakfast was lovely with a great selection. The hotel itself was clean and stylish with nice decor. Great location as we were only a few minutes from town etc. Great value for money.
Will definately stay again.
