We've stayed many times at The Salthill Hotel. The location is perfect, the staff nice, the bar and patio friendly, the food in the bar very good, and breakfast good and easy. This time we stayed 4 nights, and the 1st night we had a room with problems. They moved us the next day. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

We have stayed here twice this year and despite some minor issues, we enjoyed both visits.

The best part of this hotel is the pool & gym. There are two pools - the smaller one is warmer and set up for families with young kids. This pool is about the size of most hotel pools. The second pool, separated from the first by an internal wall (which limits the noise!), is far bigger and very impressive.

The hotel is also nicely situated across the road from Salthill promenade and beach. Really nice even in typical Irish weather. Sathill itself is only 5-10 minutes of a walk away, where there are a lot of restaurants and pubs.

The hotel lobby is very nicely furnished, as is the bar. The staff in low season seem to be a bit slow or unsure of what they are doing, but when we revisited in peak season, they seemed to be operating in a higher / faster gear.

The rooms are fine. On both stays, some furnishings were showing their age - e.g. doors not closing properly / at all. Noise from the live music in the bar was pretty bad, even 2-3 storeys above. But this is only an issue if you are staying in a room with a sea view (as the bar is also at the front of the building). Noise from the corridors later in the night was also an issue, but nothing unusual for a hotel (unfortunately). Ear plugs solve all problems.

All-in-all, a nice location and a great pool make up for the other issues.

The Salthill Hotel is a fantastic place for your wedding reception. We had our wedding there in June 2013. Everything was absolutely perfect on the day, it ran so smooth and the place looked just perfect. All of our pre-wedding planning meetings with the wedding co-ordinator Pauline Griffin were chilled out and stress free. She was very open to all our suggestions, and had lots of helpful information and tips. She assisted with organising even the smallest of details and added some unique touches of ours to the day without any problem.
She introduced us to the other staff in the hotel who were always very professional, friendly and helpful when we visited.
Our wedding day was perfect. The food was delicious, the reception room was laid out so beautifully. The waiting staff were excellent and were great with the small children and some elderly guests. All of our wedding guests had only positive feedback about the hotel and their professionalism.
Our guests staying overnight were very happy with the accommodation. Rooms were nice and spacious and very clean. They also got to use the gym and pool facilities in the hotel.
A truly enjoyable time was had by everyone. For my husband and I - it was a really magical day and everything was taken care of for us. Thanks you to Pauline & team for helping to make our day really special.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights June 26-29. We had two ocean front rooms that h.ad wonderful views. The front desk staff was very helpful at check-in and throughout our stay. Our two children had much fun at the pool. We had the two course dinner one evening and it was great. The public bus right on the road by the hotel took us to Galway City for shopping and fun. The only drawback of our stay was a large party held on Friday night with a band that was very loud until about midnight. This did bother our sleep.

Nice, well-run hotel. Attentive, professional front desk staff. Expansive bar with top-notch music and active dance floor. We saw a 17- member band do Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin. Fabulous female vocalist! Good food.

Room Tip: get an upper-floor room facing the bay

We had a lovely time here at a friends wedding recently and enjoyed nursing our hangovers the day after in the pool and steam rooms which are second to none! Free car parking and beautiful views with the prom on the door step, what more would you want!

Room Tip: Definitely get a sea view on a higher floor and go down to breakfast
