“Great bedroom and bathroom”
Reviewed March 10, 2010

We stayed in the G hotel in January 2007 for three nights. The best thing about this hotel is the bedrooms and the bathrooms, the beds and the linen were amazing, incredibly comfortable and huge. The bathroom and the fittings were top class. The food was good (not memorable) and the service was pretty good. Did not like the gawdy pink bar or the terrible views overlooking a car park. The position of the hotel over loooking a car park is hard to fathom. And there are huge windows everywhere overlooking the car parkl! But top marks for decor and comfort in the bedrooms. I would go back for the pure luxury of it, just haven't had the opportunity.

Just spent Saturday night at the G and it was brilliant from start to finish. The overall decor is fun and funky and the room was just amazing! You definately get more than you pay for. The staff, from the reception area, to the bar staff & restaurant staff are very helpful and can't do enough for you. The food @ MATZ is superb- I definately recommend the "melt in your mouth" lamb starter - probably the best Lamb i've ever eaten. And then the bar is just fun and relaxing, with a mind boggling choice of cocktails. Overall brilliant staff, gorgeous food, amazing fun, great service that puts some other 5* hotel service to shame! and anyone who is looking for a great place to relax (or get brownie points from the other half) should look no further than here!!

There is no doubt that this hotel is gorgeous. The lounges, lobby, bars, resturants and rooms are beautiful but we did not receive five star treatment. Apparently guests are guaranteed access to the spa but I could not get an appointment during my two night stay (the spa was one of my main reasons for booking). I was told they only had a 30 min slot available (there are only a couple of treatments that last 30min and I didn't want either of those). With a treatment you get free access to the thermal spa (pool relaxation area etc) without a treatment it is around £30. In most 5 star hotels guest would be able to use a pool without having to pay extra. And it was not just the pool that was extra, there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Tea and coffee cost around £5 a cup! In addition the staff were not very helpful - I left my gloves on my chair in the bar. The bar was empty but when I went back to get them they had gone - the staff were not very helpful saying they might turn up in a couple of days - they had not turned up by the time I left.

I stayed at the G with a group of friends and the stay was perfect from start to end. The Hotel is just magnificent, the decor is 'wow' and a focal point of conversation. It is a very trendy and chic hotel and you can have a great night staying in the hotel as opposed to going into city centre. The rooms are five star luxury and the beds are soo comfortable, perfect nights sleep. We had dinner in the Matz restaurant and the ambiance and food was exceptional. The staff were so friendly and professional, always there to assist you in making your stay unforgettable. I would highly recommend this hotel for either a girlie weekend away or a romantic one with your partner. Thank you to all the staff for making our weekend so special.

This hotel is without doubt a wonder - the lounges are beautiful and it is relaxing. I would recommend it for couples but at the price you will get bette 5* treatment elsewhere for your money. The rooms are lovely although the bedding is basic - nothing special about the turndown service - no little extras that you might expect from a hotel of this type - just ice and crease on your duvet! Bathrobes are hard and slippers are bad quality. The food is fab and you wont be left feeling overly full from it which is just perfect. Cocktails are a must here too. It's a bit of a distance to town so not really suitable for that kind of socialising weekend - more for relaxation eventhough there isn't anywhere nice closeby to go for a leisurely stroll. It's nice to stay here to say you've done it and I did enjoy it but i wouldnt be rushing back either.
