“Not as good as expected, 4 star rather than 5”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Stayed here 9th and 10th of this month.
First impressions were great and the front of the Hotel is very nice, check in was quick and there was free underground parking. Rooms were nice an clean but there was no wifi in our room, the fan didn't work in the bathroom and the soap dish was hanging from the wall. Also there was only a bath which you stood in to have a shower, while this was fine it didn't feel 5 star.
I mentioned it to reception about the wifi, fan and soap dish and they fixed the soap dish, nothing else.
Also the view from our room was of a carpark in an industrial area, which didn't bother us much but isn't much of a view.
Our first days breakfast was in the bar which was used as an overflow for the restaurant. Nobody came near us to see what we wanted but we were free to use the buffet. Again this isn't a big thing and the food was lovely, but i thought these little touches are what makes a 5 star rather than a 4 star hotel. On second days breakfast we were in restaurant and food and service were first class.
There is a 20 euro charge to use the spa area which is usually included in price of stay in most hotels. This means that even if you only want to use the jacuzzi or sauna you pay 20 euro.
To sum up, it's a very nice hotel but to be a 5 star they need to up their service a little or else just call it a 4 star.
Another plus was they gave us an extra hour to check out at no extra charge.

We travelled to the G Hotel in Galway for my husbands 40th birthday, we chose the bank holiday weekend in October for a trip. I booked the G without knowing to much about it, OMG what a surprise we got, we were provided with a complentary room upgrade which was a great start to what can only be described as an amazing weekend of luxury and exceptional food. As for the staff, I have a feeling they may be telepathic, they seem to know what you need before you have a chance to ask, we found every member of staff to polite and friendly and ever so help, nothing was an issue nothing. I have to say, I have travelled for many years and stayed at some amazing 5 star hotel, and usually I can find something to complain about no matter how small before I leave, this was not the case with the G Hotel, I could not fault it and we will be back again and I am so looking forward to it. My only regret was not trying out the Spa but I will be next time:-)

Just returned from a delightful 3 days at The G. Everything about the place screams 5 star. We went to Galway for 3 nights instead of a foreign holiday and were delighted with our choice. It is a 10 minute walk into the city centre but well worth it. The bar is very comfortable and while we didnt eat in the restaurant we did get some snacks from the bar and they were lovely. My girlfriend had a treatment in the spa and visited the thermal suite which "made" her week. They have "attheraces" on the TV in the room which kept me occupied while she was in the spa.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Luxury Room which was great for couples

The G hits the spot ....everytime!! Looking for a 24 hour escape the G again delivered on all expectations ...the warmest of Irish welcomes, the opulent and indulgent room, (including the calorific cupcakes) the sensual ambience of the lounges, optimally experienced over Spicey 50 cocktails served with panache and style. A splendid, scumpious, leisurely, late breakfast enjoyed while browsing the sunday papers.......no rush, just pure indulgence from start to finish....This is a hotel where the Guest counts .....and where one is guarenteed 5* treatment..Already looking forward to our next visit.

I've just come back from a weekend stay with my girlfriend and just wanted to praise the hotel for an unforgettable time. Everything from the stunning decor to the ever helpful staff was perfect. The hotel itself is like a piece of art. We will definitely be returning.

I love this place! The g Hotel is simply amazing. I've stayed at the g three times now and it's the only place I will stay in Galway. One of my many favorite things is the very friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone I interacted with was so helpful and accomodating- the staff at check-in, the room service runners, the wait staff, and so on. The decor is beaufitul- very fun and chic. I love that it is a boutique hotel, but is never pretentious. The eSPA at the g is unreal- an incredibly relaxing and calming environment with lots of great treatments. Massages are fully tailored to your needs, even down to the room lighting and aromas used. Food and drinks are outstanding- even for a vegetarian! From the cupcakes waiting for you in your room upon check-in, to the incredible Irish breakfast, to the DVD's you can borrow for a night in, this place is the best home away from home. You'll never want to leave the g Hotel. I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: You seriously can't get a bad room here- even the standard rooms are beautifully decorated and p...
