“Less touristy than other areas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2014

Very beautiful and photogenic country well worth a visit. Expect to spend at least a half day in the National Park but the surrounding areas is excellent as well. In the park you are bussed to the main areas so the car park is enormous but this was not a problem.

“Very informative”

It was free! There are about 3 different walks and the views are outstanding. There is a little cafe and picnic places. Well worth a visit!

“Amazing views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014 via mobile

We have family close by in Clifden and always drive past , during the winter it was stunning to see the snow on the top so during a vist home we decided to give a go ...

The pathways leading up to the mountain is very well laid out and very accessible with a easy to follow directions , considering its across harsh connemara bog ....

Most of the walk is flat with lovely views and great places to take a few pictures , halfway along the path way turns into well places rock steps where you really start the climb , half way up there's more viewing , resting and photography opportunities ...

When you get to the top it's all made worth while by the stunning views , we took a picnic to the top ....

On the way down you come down the other side of the mountain and yet more perfectly placed rock steps with stunning views

It all we spent about 4 hours ..

It's a real credit to the people who made the pathways as they are brilliant idea

Highly recommended , for fit and unfit as there's plenty of resting places and it's amazing at the top to look down and know you've walked up a mountain

“Worth the climb up Diamond Hill!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

The whole Connemara area is beautiful, with gentle green mountains and fairytale loughs. You can drive or walk for miles without seeing a soul. At the main national park visitor centre there's a walking route up Diamond Hill. It's hard work and steep, but steps have been cut so you don't have to be skilled or super fit. On a clear day the views to the coast are stunning.

“Connemara National Park Tour With Spirit of Ireland (23/06/14)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

Spirit of Ireland is a new company providing bespoke tours aimed at small groups.
We were picked up from the Galway Bay Hotel after breakfast, and were surprised and delighted when we realised that we were going to be transported in a small but luxurious Mercedes coach with a capacity for only twelve people.

The tour took us to some beautiful places, and as the vehicle was small, we were able to use roads that were not suitable for larger vehicles.

The tour included a heavily discounted lunch at the Old Station in Clifden, followed by a visit to Kylemore Abbey.

The coach returned us to our hotel at approximately 7pm.

Spirit of Ireland is highly recommended, and it should be noted that the Connemara tour is just one of the tours provided by this company.
