Food was okay, I went there a couple of times, once for a quick breakfast and the other for a coffee stop. Both times the service was atrocious. I don't know whether they are biased against people of ethnic origin and/or students (I'm sure I appeared to be both) but the service was both rude and jarring. Not at all like the rest of Ireland. Not entirely sure what's going on here!

Received a leaflet for G.B.C. from our Galway city tour guide. Decided to use it to save time. The place was a find! The downstairs coffee shop and takeaway, was extremely busy, so went upstairs to the restaurant. The food is homemade and portions are very generous The prices are reasonable. The decor is simple. The restaurant was busy, but the tables quickly emptied.
The waitress service was very fast. Good place for tourists.

Hmm, we only had scones (very dry and tasteless) and coffee here. It was lunch time and the place was packed. Every time we walked by, it was crowded, so maybe the other food is better.

Set just off the main square in Galway, this little restaurant / coffee shop should be on everyone's 'visit' list. It opens at noon until mid evening. Just after 1pm it was busy - always a good sign, and we had to clear crockery off a table to sit down. But, so worth it.
There was a selection of different meals or pastries. You order at the counter and we chose the dish of the day - chicken vol au vent. The plate, brought in moments, was such a generous helping; meat in a super tasty gravy between the pastry, light mashed potatoes, nicely chopped carrots and a portion of cabbage. All for 6€.
Upstairs there is a more formal setting for special occasions.
This eaterie is a little treasure.

Like the title says, the coffee and cocoa were great. The slice of cake we got was a bit small and not as good as the cheese cake we've been having at some of the other coffee houses. The place does nice, though, and it's fun to sit near the fireplace when it's raining out.
