My sister and I, together with our Aged Parents, spent a night here during our trip to Connemara. Absolutely everything about the hotel was faultless - the staff, the service, the 'no problem' attitude and the food. From the moment we pulled up at in the carpark to the moment we left, every single encounter we had with a member of staff was friendly, funny and attentive. As Daddy said, 'I have never been anywhere in the world where the staff have been so nice. And they actually mean it!'. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and the fabulous location is an added bonus

Amazing location, close to eyre square, 1/2 block from train, 1/2 block from bus depot for tours, really quick walk to Shop St. and Quay St., where most of the shops, bars and restaurants are. Clean rooms, polite and helpful staff. The decor is definitely more traditional and what could be described as charming, but more importantly the beds use the newer white comforters with duvets and the overall smell of the room was very clean and like any new/modern hotel you stay in. We booked one of the suites with a/c and it worked quite well, it was also quite spacious. The hair dryer worked, but it was one of the funniest looking things I've ever seen and not very hot air if you're depending on a very hot hair dryer.

We usually like to B and B it, but A friend of mine who has been to Ireland a dozen times recommends to stay in a hotel for the first night so you have a large room to help you go through your luggage and a good bed to sleep off the jet lag. Good advice. We got all of that and more at the Park House for 2 nights. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the service was great. We had a triple room. It was clean, the bathroom was fine, and the beds were comfortable enough that we slept for 9 hours straight the first night. We had dinner that first night in their restaurant. The rack of lamb was the best my wife and I have ever enjoyed. The waiter had them personalize her dessert as we were there for her birthday. We felt it was one of our "top ten" dining experiences. I did not spend time at their pub as I preferred the one across the street but it was full and everyone seemed happy.

Some of the complaints I see on here I believe are unfounded. We could not find the parking lot so we parked out front and Patrick at the front desk gave me directions to get there. It's behind the hotel, confusing at first until you drive around the block once. I felt we got good value for what we paid as breakfast and parking were included.

Galway is a good place to stay for a few nights to view that part of the country. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is old and the rooms small but serviceable. Would have been fine except our toilet was broken. Staff attended and couldn't fix it. What was most disturbing is we were not offered another room. We were just told sorry- nothing could be done.

We stayed in a deluxe double in July at Park House, as something of a splurge for the last night of our trip in Ireland. The hotel itself is very large, and our room also was quite spacious, with a desk, sitting area, and queen size bed. While the room was large, the decor seemed outdated, heavy, and stuffy, making it hard to feel comfortable. The windows were quite tiny, so the room was a bit dark, too. While a queen bed is perfectly adequate, for such a large room we didn't understand why it wasn't a king, which would have made the room feel a bit more modern and luxurious. We will note that we are in our early 30s, but most of the clientele seemed to be 55+ in age, which may explain some of the Park House's chosen decor. The bathroom also could use a renovation, as it seemed about four decades old and was showing some wear-and-tear. We had one of the rooms near the swinging doors from the elevators; you could hear the door slamming back and forth frequently, and there also was a weird beeping noise coming from a neighboring room -- like a battery was running out -- that woke me up throughout the night. While we didn't take advantage of the restaurant for dinner, the breakfast was decent, with some hot to-order options and a buffet. Service was excellent at breakfast, as well as in the hotel bar the night before, where the friendly bartender went out of his way to explain the Irish sport of hurling. An aside, our first experience with the Park House was a bit frustrating -- namely, trying to find the parking area for the hotel. Make a left at the intersection before passing the hotel and you'll see it. Overall, without some updating and/or price changes, I probably would look elsewhere for somewhere to stay.

We arrived terribly late and with the car full of sand. We were ushered in and quickly checked into a family room, seemingly well away from all the other guests. It was a decent size and very private, so our two infants could run around without disturbing anyone else. The restaurant stayed open so we could go down and eat - and what a treat that turned out to be. The lobster salad was a meal in itself, but we followed this with a fantastic main course of scallops and then a dessert of ice cream and jelly (just in case anyone thought we were sophisticated). In spite of looking and feeling like a fine dining restaurant, we were allowed in with shorts, made very comfortable and the children were given a decent choice of food too. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much bother. In particular, a young lad named Danny at the bell desk went to the trouble of bringing in his own laptop charger from home, as well as printing off various Google maps to enhance our trip to Killary and Westport. Small things like this make all the difference to a trip. Somehow, the management of this hotel have motivated their staff to think above and beyond their day jobs. Full marks to Park House Hotel. We shall be returning.
