“Grand' old lady with all modern comfort”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Evaluating this hotel with my wife we could not really find anything really negative: yes the decoration and furnishing looked old fashoined but nothing was worn out, yes the shower and taps looked 19th century but offerred 21st century comfort, yes the lift shrieked but never let us down, yes the staff looked "reserved" but were very friendly and very efficient...

The hotel is also situated right in the center of Galway.

Objective conclusion is that we had 3 comfortable nights of sleep in a spacious room equiped with a large closet, good beds, well equiped bathroom, WiFi and more power outlets I have ever seen in a room. My wife particularly appreciated the enlarging mirror surrounded with a lot of light. I also appreciated the parking (valet) in th city centre.

About the restaurant we had mixed feelings. Breakfast was by far more than just OK: fresh juices, pastry, cereals (sorry not our preference) and nice cooked meals; we had better ones in Ireland but we surely do not complain.Dinner matched our continental taste less. We were there on a Saturday evening and saw the local people queueing to have dinner at the restaurant. But we experienced it as dry and rather tasteless. "de gustibus ..." ok but I thought it was too expensive for what we got.

So if we ever go back to Galway, we will surely consider staying at this hotel once again.

I walked into the hotel and felt as if I were back a few years. Heavy with big furniture with bits or pieces in every cranny. However, all this made it charming. The staff went out of their way to accomodate me, even to the point of walking me to the train station with my luggage!! I was very impressed. The rooms are huge-amazing space given to dressing and toilette.

Room Tip: Watch out for the CLEAN very slippery floor in the dressing room!! Highly polished marble!

visited the Park House last year for a long weekend and was delighted with the place from the moment the porter offered to park my car to the day we left. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the rooms were up to a very good standard. We ate in the hotel the first night and its restaurant standard was very good. Second night went out to one of Galway's top restaurants and wished we had dined in the hotel instead. All in all a very enjoyable place and I'll certainly be back

We spent two nights at the Park House Hotel in Galway. It is tucked into a row of buildings right in the center of the city, so its not spectacular from the outside. However, inside it is definitely first class. It has a homely and comfortable feel: handsomely appointed and managed by a professional staff. I especially enjoyed the sitting area outside of the restaurant. I found a wonderfully confortable chair to read my emails. After a few minutes I was asked if I would like coffee, which arrived promptly - what a pleasant hour that was. The room was large by European standards. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but it was top of the line! Oh, and the location is hard to beat - within walking distance of shops and the waterfront.

Room Tip: If you are going to Galway, spend a little extra and book the Park House.

I did not stay at the hotel, however myself and my boyfriend ate here while in Galway city. The food was beautiful with an early bird option (6-7:30pm) of 33 euro each for a three course meal. The hotel is right beside eyre square in a great location! The service was also good... Very friendly waiters! I would go back again!

There was road construction going on right across from the hotel when we were there, making it tricky to find. However, once there, we had a great stay. The rooms were very comfortable, and the staff extremely friendly. We had dinner in the bar a couple of times, and found the food to be excellent and the prices extremely reasonable.

The location turned out to be very good. A block away from the a central park, and a two minute walk through the park but you on a fun pedestrian roadway loaded with restaurants and shops. Walk to the end, and you end up on the water.

This hotel was a great place to stay while exploring Galway and the Connemara area.

The Park House was a distinct pleasure. One has the feeling that the staff is committed to going the extra mile to please and pamper guests. The decor is a bit funky for today, but in a fun, playful way. The standards of cleanliness are apparent and high. The lobbies are comfortable and large with plenty of cushy seating. Delicious aromas from the fantastic restaurant tease during meal times. The included breakfast is plentiful, and though no hotel breakfast is worth the extra expenditure, this one comes the closest.

Our room was large, clean and comfortable. We were offered free coffee in the lobby while waiting for it to be prepared. This brings me to the staff. What a lovely group of dedicated helpers! They could not have been more solicitous, or tried harder to make our stay perfect.

The location is really great, because one of the best reasons for a stay in Galway is to take advantage of tours such as Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands, several of which the hotel can book for you. The hotel is located a few steps from the motorcoach station on one side and and central Eyre square on the action, so you are close walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants, etc. and what little night life lovely Galway has to offer.

Our room was very quiet and overall our experience at Park House Hotel was a most relaxing and pleasant first stop on our Emerald Isle journey.
