A nice, small hotel well situated on a pedestrian street in the centre of old Galway. Our room was decent-sized and comfortable, overlooking Eyre Park, which was full of activity during the day, but the room was perfectly quiet at night. The only drawback is that you cannot drive up to the hotel or even stop nearby, but must leave your car in a public parking several blocks away and drag or carry your baggage from there.

Stayed: May 2011, traveled with family

Why?
It's the location in the very city centre from where you can explore the city on foot,
it's the excellent (and healthy!) breakfast that keeps you fit for hours,
it's the pub with live music just next door,
and - very important:
It's the friendly and helpful staff that makes you feel really welcome!

Everything was amazing!!!! Above my expectations! The staff are very helpful and friendly! I wish I have stayed there forever! That's how much I loved it. The breakfast was amazing as well! To others they might have liked the Dance Club that is located next to the Hotel, but I loved it because It wasn't so quiet. I believe if it was quiet I would be scared of the little noises. haha. Again, I LOVED EVERYTHING!!!

We stayed here for one night and would certainly go back again. Good rate. Went to the bar for a few drinks. Great value on cocktails. Music was very good.

The Skeffington Arms Hotel was very welcoming. The staff were very very helpful. Our room was clean and had some extra comforts, iron, tea coffee kettle, bottled water with glasses e.t.c. We had a room at the front facing out onto the park and it was lovely. The hotel is linked to the pub and it does close at 2am (well that was on a friday), if you are a light sleeper or like an early night i would reccomend asking for a room at the back rather then the front. We were fine because we went for a drink there first (it has a lovely atmosphere and good live music) then dinner and did not get in til 1am ish ourselves, I slept through no problem but i think if you are a light sleeper it may wake you. The breakfast was exceptional, great choice/variety and a really friendly man to welcome you in, this was the best breakfast that we had in Ireland. Parking was in the multistrey down the road and they operated a discount so 10 euros for overnight stay which was a good deal. Hotel is in the city so access to lots of restaurants and bars and the harbour, great location Overall definately worth the money and would highly recommend this hotel
