The host was welcoming and accommodating to us as we were getting our bearings after traveling all night as this was our first night in Ireland! They were very helpful and accommodating to us helping us find a place to eat and giving us sightseeing suggestions. Patriac was interesting to talk to and gave us insight on the history of his house, the B&B buisiness and Ireland as a whole. We truely injoyed our experience with him. The breakfast was amazing! The rooms and common areas were clean and we had hot showers every morning! I would suggest this B&B to friends and family!

We do hope that our host gets his ipad soon!!!

We stayed at the Ard Mhuire for 8 days and were treated like family by the proprietor and staff. They personally made our trip to Ireland a delight.

We found the Ard Mhuire comfortable, clean and enjoyed recent improvements - ie, brand new bathrooms. The Galway Golf Club is a short walk away, as is the "promenade" along the ocean, both of which our group took advantage of. Galway City is a short drive or bus-ride away though we walked it several times.

The beds were king-size and very comfortable. We also enjoyed their sunny common room where we often gathered in the afternoons and watched TV in the evening.

Lots of laughs, great breakfasts and personal touches made our stay relaxed and memorable.

We highly recommend this B&B

This was the third b&b we had booked on our whirlwind 6 night tour of Ireland; the other two were wonderful. We had been driving and sightseeing all day from the ring or Kerry, through Kilarney and Limerick and the burren. We were tired. It was dark, cold and raining. We pulled into the parking area of Ard Mhuire around 6:30pm and the house was dark. We unloaded our baggage and rang the doorbell. No answer. Rang again..no answer. The porchlight was off. We could barely make out a typed note taped on the inside of the glass panels in the door. It read " if you are waiting call..and it gave two phone numbers".
Well our cellphones were not working in Ireland and we could not call. Luckily after 10 minutes some neighbors who were walking by queried about our situation. They let me use their cellphone to call Padraic, the proprieter. He told me he did not forget about us(I had comfirmed our reservation with him just days before) but had to take his daughter to a girlscout meeting and he was on the other side of Galway about 45min to an hour away. He asked if we could go out and eat somewhere and come back. Well another night we might have been willing to do this but we had already eaten and were tired and just wanted to get into our room and relax. He said he would start back. Well after about 15 minutes a car pulled in and it was his mother and sister. They let us in and were very nice people and were very apologetic and we could tell they were embarrased by the situation. The house was freezing cold. The heater had been off. It took several hours to warm up. Also to mention the radiator in our bedroom went off during the night and we had to use the spare heater provided(we were told not to leave this on during the night). The room was small, the bathroom and shower small; barely had enought hot water for showers; sink was outside the bathroom in the bedroom..it took a long time to get hot water to it. Padraic, by the way, did not return until around 9pm and he knocked on our door and did say he was sorry but did not seem all that contrite to us. He cooked us breakfast the next am which was fine and he was friendly enough but we could not wait to leave. As I noted to my wife, the note that was posted in the doorway was not just meant for us but reflects the way this man runs the b&b. I guess if he needs or wants to leave he does and expects his guests to call him to come back and cope in the meantime. Not the way a bed and breakfast should be run I don't think.

My usual bed and Breakfast was booked so I chose this particular location in part due to trip advisor reviews. I found this establishment to be nothing short of the highest standards. Now forgive me in Ireland for being American(and therefore fussy), but quality and price should not be mutually exclusive. When I book a bed and breakfast I expect both, and In Ard Mhuire I got what I wanted. Now I did not try the scones, but the sincere and genuine welcome, was just as enjoyable. The standard of the rooms indicated very recent and extensive refurbishment and the standard of the food and service indicated a very professionally run business. Breakfast was flawless. I would highly recommend this location. It is not that close to the city , but is not too far either. I went for a very refreshing walk on The Salthill promenade, but for nightlife proximity Galway's Latin Quarter, Quay St, was a cheap cab fare away. Padriac and Theresa are local and very knowledgeable. Please tell them I sent you

We did a whistle stop tour of Ireland, taking in 7 cities & towns over 8 days. We stayed in guesthouses or B&B's throughout, I do a lot of business travel and didn't want my vacation to have any resemblence of these!
We arrived into Galway and phoned the proprietor, Padraic, to get some directions. It turns out we were only about 2 km away, and rather than give us directions through Galways infinite number of roundabouts he came to meet us and we followed him home. The house, Ard Mhuire, is absolutely fabulous. The facilities rival some of the better hotels I have stayed in. Even though we were only 3 km from the city centre it had the feeling of tranquility that one gets from a more rural setting. The generosity of the hosts was one thing that really impressed me, we were afforded every comfort, offered lifts into the city, given great restaurant and pub recommedations, and generally made feel like we were at a home from home. The breakfast was fantastic, a generous buffet of freshly sourced local produce and a whopping big cooked breakfast also, with freshly baked breads etc. We had only intended on staying 1 night but we stayed for 2, and had we not been due back in Shannon the next day for out return flights we would have stayed 3!
Thank you Padraic & family, we will remember you fondly and look forward to perhaps one day returning for a longer stay. God bless.

Ard Mhuire B&B is located in a quiet section of Salthill, which is an upscale neighborhood of Galway. Teresa McDonagh is a wonderful hostess and her homemade scones are to die for!! The rroms are lovely, clean, and well appointed. Believe me....you'll love your stay al Ard Mhuire.
