“Expected more”
Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

We visited The Pie Maker about 8 on a midweek evening. We were the only people there. All the tables were covered in dirty dishes so they may have been full earlier as the place is quite small. The waitress took quite a while to come and clean the table and take our order. She was friendly but seemed very nervous as if it was her first time serving. We ordered 2 pies with mash ,peas and gravy. I ordered the sausage pie with veal gravy and my wife ordered the curry pie. They took quiet a long time to arrive and the pies were hot but the mash gravy and peas were lukewarm and prepared by a very disinterested man in street clothes who looked like he didn't want to be there. The pies were ok but bland and didn't meet the flavours described on the menu. I expected better but will try it again.

“Good food, Friendly Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

My husband and I had lunch at the Piemaker in mid-November. We were the only customers for most of our lunch, and we enjoyed a chat with Stephanie, one of the pie makers. The pies were delicious. We had mashed potatoes and mushy peas on the side. For the price, a little bit more spuds would've been nice! Both hubby and I had wonderful desserts. But it was a very pricey lunch! The Piemaker is a nice alternative to the sandwich and soup lunchtime offerings of most of Galway's restaurants. This is a great place to spend a rainy afternoon.

“Great experience!”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

This unique restaurant is a great "change" from the ordinary. The food pies are wonderful - from feta and spinach, to curry chicken, we enjoyed the experience of the "pies." It's worth a visit!

“Fresh Blackberries”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

We felt lucky to have stumbled into this little nook of a restaurant on a whim. With no plan to buy anything, we ended up in conversation about berry picking and left with a still-warm chocolate blackberry pie that simply made our night. Kismet.

“Loved The Pie Maker!”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

We were thrilled to find The Pie Maker, having been intrigued by reviews. The atmosphere, the staff (of 1 when we were there, a cold, rainy Monday night!), the food....made for a wonderful experience! The dinner pies were delicious, the Banoffee pie for dessert is not to be missed! We enjoyed talking with the staffperson (sorry, don't remember his name, from Ennis), and then with the other couple from Belfast who ventured in after us. The 5 of us talked very amiably, making for a most charming night, in a very charming restaurant. If I ever return to Galway, I know just where to eat -- no need to search out any other place!
