“We enjoyed the patio and flower garden out back”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We came across this B &B quite by accident, and we are glad we did. My husband and I were traveling in Ireland with my sister, brother-in-law, and niece. We were able to get two rooms and these rooms were not attached to the house, but were outside in back. The garden around the patio is beautiful. The roses smelled divine. We enjoyed the evening sitting outside and relaxing. The rooms were on the smallish side, but they were clean and comfortable. Liam was very helpful in giving us directions to a nearby church. Margaret was very helpful the next morning at breakfast when we had more questions about the area. We would definitely stay here if we're ever visiting Ireland again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room out back. They are very quiet and comfortable.

The Crookhaven was in the perfect location for my first visit to Galway. It was a short walk away from Eyre Square, from the promenade at Salthill, and from the lively Latin Quarter. Better yet, our room featured a list of local eateries compiled by our hosts with personal commentary about their specialties -- something I have never seen in the many B&Bs I've stayed in, but something that makes a first-time visitor feel right at home. Before our arrival, I inquired about day tours to some of the sites in Western Ireland. Margaret directed me to an excellent company where I booked online -- but she then carried this a step further by contacting the company and having them pick us up at the door. Crookhaven is inexpensive and quiet. It has good beds, charming decor, and hosts eager to please their guests. Everything I've ever heard about Irish friendliness and hospitality was confirmed by my stay at Crookhaven.

If you are going to Galway City, Ireland, think seriously about staying at the Crookhaven B & B. Margaret and Liam are wonderful hosts who will help you find what you need and where to go. The B & B is located in an area just outside one of the bridges into Galway City and also close to the summer fun of Salthill. You park your car and can walk all around the area. Galway City is a college town which is lively, fun, entertaining. By college town that doesn't mean us "Older Folks" are left out!

Although there are many other B & B's available, you can't go wrong by staying at the Crookhaven!

My friend and I have been traveling across Ireland and have been trying to find nice, clean, charming, inexpensive B&Bs. When we arrived in Galway, we were overwhelmed at the choices available. Some streets had a dozen or more within a few blocks. We stopped into a few to compare what they had to offer and how they felt. Margaret & Liam O'Donovan at Crookhaven were by far the most pleasant and inviting inn-keepers, and their place was the sweetest of them all. We had a lovely little room in the rear of the main house away from the street. It was very charming and beautifully decorated and furnished with beautiful linens, bedspreads and drapes. There is a nice, quiet area in the back courtyard as well to sit and relax where we had a little picnic. A full Irish breakfast was included - made-to-order....and delicious! The owners are friendly, interesting, funny and kind. We could not have been happier with our choice and look forward to returning the next time we're back in the area. You won't regret staying at Crookhaven. It's delightful!!!
