“Manners are free! Mr O Brien of Aran Ferries”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

We had an awful dealing with Mr O Brien the owner of Aran ferries from Rossaveal last Sunday morning. What had planned to be a little adventure organized booked and planned by Marcela the governor of Flahertys Ostan in Inis Oir to entertain the islanders as part of the festival turned into quite an awful morning.
Mr O Brien marched over to us and I quote "all that s**t isn't going on my boat" at first I thought it was a bit of Irish banter, he march away and we said or did nothing, he came back 10 minutes later and screamed at us again, pack up that gear we are not taking you to the island, we need this area clear for passengers.
Firstly let me point out, that we thought all this had been arranged, so much to our surprise when we were treated like this.
We called the governor of the hotel on the island to speak to Mr. O Brien he accepted his he was equally rude to her and full of ego he hung up and said pack up your gear!
So we did, I would not recommend using his services to anyone he is only interested in $$$ and the tourist buck! he has no respect or manners and he must have left his customer service part of his brain out on the Atlantic!!!!
The islands are beautiful and well worth a visit, but if you want to be looked after head south and catch a ferry from Doolin in Co. Clare these guys know a thing or two about looking after their clients!

“The Islands are Great - The Ferry Service Awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

I can't fault the hard working crew but we had the utter misfortune to deal with the owner of the ferry service - ignorant, aggressive and totally unreasonable. Highly recommend the Islands for a visit but do so from the far friendlier and more helpful services running from Doolin County Clare. I would not ever wish to know that my money was actually going to such an individual that runs Aran Ferries.

“wonderful experience”

Our trip to the Aran Islands was wonderful despite the rain. We were able to reserve the ferry through our hotel concierge desk, then took the shuttle there so we didn't have to drive.

If weather not too good make sure that you book the 4pm ferry otherwise 5pm is too late and can be a long hang around.

“Aran Islands”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

We went to Inis Oirr, the smallest and most beautiful of the three of them as people say. We hire a bike and it is worth to do it to visit the whole place. The island is quiet and nice although it does not have a spectacular scenery. As we stay at galway city it is a long way to arrive to the island. The bus that gets you to the Ferry is old and Very unconfortable, but the worst thing is the Ferry, it is old, dirty, the seats are broken and it definetily does not worth the price we paid for it.

I would not recomend this excursion, it is too expensive for what you get in return.
