We stayed one night at the end of 19 day trip through UK and France. All of our previous Accommodations were at private apartments.

This hotel was clean, checkin was fast and efficient, the room was very nice and already set up with a 3rd rollaway bed, which was requested at reservation.

We also ate at the bar/restaurant. I agree they needed more staff as we often had to grab our waitresses attention for additional drinks, deserts, and the check. However, the food was good and delivered quickly, the staff was very nice, and the price was reasonable for hotel food.

I used the hot tub only, but the fitness facilities looked very good. Pool, steam room, sauna, and work out equipment.

Lastly, the place is easy access for transportation. The city bus (lines 402, 409) is easy and quick access to downtown and the stops are less than 1/4 mile west from the front door. Also, Bus Eireann has a drop off for arriving Galway visitors at GMIT which is a little over 1/2 mile east. They also pick up there for buses going to Shannon airport. Make sure you check schedule times and be 10 mins early as they don't wait.

This hotel is a great value, and a nice place.

This hotel has great potential, on arrival the reception area was full of tour bus clients checking in, it looked terrible but having pushed my way to reception we were checked in straight away.
The room(2006) was fine, it is a family room of two bedrooms one of which was locked at the front of the hotel, for a 3 star hotel I was happy with the room, bed and facilities, it was clean and larger than expected.
The Hotel is let down by the chaos of the Restaurant, on check in I asked if we needed to make a dinner reservation we were told no it was not required, became down the restaurant was full any only being used for bus tour clients, that we could have dinner in the bar area, after 3 requests for menu's, complaining at the bar and then at reception and an hour later we finally got seated, then having to ask twice again for our order to be taken, this I blame on management who have 3 times as many staff behind the bar and only two girls working on the floor serving about 20 tables, the 2nd night we were told in the bar to eat in the restaurant and the restaurant told us to go to the bar!!! thankfully an older member of staff sorted a table in the bar for us, if we had not been in galway on a family medical emergency and exhausted I would have not eaten in the restaurant on the 2nd night and may not have stayed in the venue the other night, The F&B manager needs to work out if they want to sell food or not and staff the premises as needed.
People have mentioned the location it is actually very close to galway city(5 minutes) access to the Dublin/Limrick/Cork motorway and for visiting the Dublin Clinic, Merlin Park Hospital and UCG.
Check out was a breeze and health club a bonus.

We spent 4 nights in The Connacht (Thurs to Sun)....we had a "suite" which was pretty much the same as a self catering apartment with the exclusion of a hob/oven which we really didn't need. It had a very sizeable bedroom with plenty of room for a huge bed, a table/chairs, tv etc & a travel cot, a separate bathroom, sitting room & kitchenette area. Our "almost 2 year old" loved it....she could select her own breakfast (with the help of Mammy & Daddy of course), she loved the pool & while we didn't make use of the play area/kids club it looked like a really nice area if needed. A lovely stroll into the city but far enough out not to be in the "thick of it"!! Plenty of parking right outside the front door. I would highly recommend The Connacht as somewhere affordable for families to stay for a break away. For larger families there were interconnecting rooms which would have been perfect to accommodate more children.

Room Tip: Compare price of a self catering apartment to a suite - if you can live without a hob/oven - it coul...

Staying with a 6 year old and two teens was a rare dream. The kids club and fab pool were a huge hit for the kids and a lovely way to relax for adults. The leisure centre looked large, airy and bright with lots of equipment. The large open spaces of the lobby, bar and restaurant were great to feel part of the gentle buzz of this bustling hotel while feeling relaxed as we people-watched. Altogether it felt longer and more relaxing than a one night stay. Would definitely consider a re-visit.

Room Tip: Staff are eager to meet guests needs and I expect would be especially accommodating if a special req...

We booked this hotel over the internet, hoping that the reasonable room rate would not be an indication of a neglected hotel. We were delighted at check in to find our room ready and very clean. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom modern, nicely fitted out with black marble and quality towels and fittings. Our room was situated quite a long walk down to the back of the hotel but it was extremely quiet. Unfortunately, the courtyard garden along the way was very neglected which did not look very inviting. Breakfast was nicely presented and wait staff efficient. The hotel is a good 7 - 8 minutes in a cab from town but for around 8 euro it was well worth the fare as parking is very limited in and around shop street, the main restaurant precinct. There is a very large car park at the front of the hotel which is free for hotel guests - ideal if you have a car. The hotel was very busy - many large groups in buses and a few visiting on conferences. Overall, a pleasant stay.

I have stayed in the Connacht on a few occasions and have had nothing but good things to say.

The prices are very competitive during the summer months which is a great starting point, for a three star hotel you get an awful lot more than you would expect:

A huge amount of parking at the front of the hotel gives you a great first impression, no tight car parks to contend with is always a pleasure.

The gardens have been well maintained and on a summers evening its a lovely place to sit in with a refreshing pint as the hotel faces into the sun.

Lobby area is well furnished and spacious and there are plenty of check in staff so waiting was never an issue.

The Bar/Restaurant is perfect, Breakfast is a self service buffet with hot and cold food and its quick and clean. The Bar is well stocked and has a lovely cocktail counter with mixologists each evening. Every night we stayed here (mid week) there was live music in the bar and the atmosphere was fantastic.
Food menu is extensive and well priced for a hotel and its of high quality....The Fish and chips were amazing and could feed an army.

Rooms are well equipped with Wifi(free) Tv Iron Hairdryer etc etc and the bathrooms are spacious and modern. Room service is available at the Hotel with a full menu until midnight i think and then you can order sandwiches and soup after that (which i did after returning from a night out).

The rooms are quiet as the doors and walls are very thick which is nice as some hotels fall down on noise pollution.

There is a full sized gym with numerous cardio machines and weights rooms and towels are provided and there was a large pool sauna and steam room which we didnt use but looked very nice and they asked us if we needed swimming hats or goggles when we checked in to use the gym.

Location is very good its about a five minute drive or twenty minute walk to eyre square and taxis are right outside the hotel door (they have a taxi rank in the hotel) and costs about €6 to get to eyre square is perfect if there is a few of you. Buses were across the road (one minute walk) but we didn't get any so cant comment on price or length of journey, cant imagine more than 10minutes though.

Staff really makes this place though, They are friendly and willing to help you with anything you need!

5 stars for this 3 star hotel!

Will be back soon!
