Last October my girlfriend and I drove up to Galway for a night. We had a few drinks and a meal in other places around the city before deciding to head to the Roisin Dubh. This place is certainly a pub that everyone who visits Galway should visit.
There are different levels in the bar area, and as you walk in the door you are greeted by a burning fire, a welcome treat for a cold October evening. Wait time for a drink at the bar was to be expected, with so many people flocking to this pub.
The band that was playing in the function room when we arrived were just finishing up, so we didn't pay to go in. But after they finished, another band started to set up and play for free.
Good live music, good atmosphere. Would recommend.
