This guesthouse had nice accommodation, clean and adequate, staff friendly and helpful. We were just airtke disappointed as DVD player wasn't working and we brought some to watch. It was advertised. Staff said they were having it fixed. It wasn't too close to city centre, hard enough to locate. We got a nice continental breakfast in the morning. There was parking at house.

Would recommend.

Positive: really comfy fed, clean, near centre

Negative: thin walls, tiny shower (I'm only 5 foot 4 and slim), we were not in main building but chalet/shed in garden next to noisy smoking area, breakfast just continental no hot breakfast.

As my title says, I was happy to stay for 2 nights as we were out enjoying Galway anyway and did not spend much time there. If we wee staying longer we would look to stay somewhere else.

Paid €240 for a triple room for 1 night here during race week, the room was tiny. Bathroom was tiny too, really poor quality. The best part was the breakfast (continential, not a hot breakfast on offer) which they finished serving at 9.30am.....
It seems to be all men running it, defo would not recommend for a female travelling alone.
Overall very poor and would never stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!!!!

Our room was at the top floor, small roof room with 2 double bed! There were not enough space in the room. The bathroom was not good also, hot water system very bad, if you push the light switch on the wall the shower starts with pressure hot water and everywhere gets wet! Breakfast was really average although staff was king and helpful. There is A/C in the room, and the bed cover keeps you quite warm for a summer night.

Room Tip: Don't choose rooms from top floor especially if you are tall. No A/C in the room.

This has to be the worst B & B ever. The room they picked for us was a disgrace, it was out the back of the house, not inside. It would have completely ruined our holiday had we not left after one horrendous night. We were asked straight away to pay on arrival. Which I didnt as we wanted to have a look at our room first. Am so glad we did not pay up.

Please do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. The room we had was so small and claustrophobic and hot, indeed if you do have claustrophobia you may well explode and if you dont have claustrophobia you will by the end of your stay.

There was nowhere to go in the room, and the bathroom was literally a cupboard (about 2ft deep) in which they had squished a very small sink, the smallest shower in the world and a toilet. The shower is so small my partner panicked when in it as I shut the door and the light went out, which didnt come back on (probably never to be seen again, even the lightbulbs hate it in here!!). She said it was like being buried alive!! When you bend over to clean your teeth your derriere is poking out of the cupboard and your right knee is almost in the toilet.

I left the room straight away and went upstairs to politely ask reception (if you can call a man sitting on a chair ignoring you in the kitchen a reception) if I could perhaps change to a better room, I was told I couldn't. I told him it was very claustrophobic and not representative of the rooms they show on their website. I had booked this room months in advance and expected a proper room, with space to move about and a bathroom.

After the horrendous shower experience we left and looked for other rooms but couldnt find one suitable, so decided to try and tough it out (not a phrase one should have to use on holiday).

We went out for the night and the best bit was yet to come. The courtyard was very brightly lit up and the huge 3 bulb light was outside our window. The blinds do not fit the windows and there is no cover above the door. Hence trying to sleep was like photosynthesis or trying to sleep on a cheap 80s sunbed as my friend who lives in Galway commented.

It was so hot we had to sleep with our (broken) window and the front door open which is not the best feeling in the world. We didnt get a wink of sleep and in the middle of the night we felt really trapped and on the verge of tears as it was so awful.

Our friend visited the room and was disgusted by the size of it and told us to leave, which we did the next morning. We visited a few hotels in town who laughed at us when we'd told them we had stayed at the Amber Lodge. So I guess their reputation precedes them. It really is awful. If you love yourself too much to put yourself through it stay away.

I give this B&B no stars as it ruined the start of our trip. We are not spoiled holidaymakers who complain all the time. I've stayed in better places in India for 80p per night. This was not condusive to a nice holiday, it was more like a dorm room and you cannot relax in it after a day out and get ready for the evening as you cannot stand in your bathroom and use it in the usual way.

When we went to pay for our one night we were told "but you booked for three nights" we mentioned our concerns to them and asked them if they would sleep there to which we were told "you get what you pay for". So there you have it, from the horses mouth. The place is rubbish. Nasty nasty place.

Room Tip: Simply put: Do not stay here ... Run for your lives

Very disappointing - booked a double room - sure it was a single with a double bed jammed against the wall. Bathroom very small, with cloakroom basin very difficult to use as again jammed next to shower wall. No space to put anything - just a small bathroom window ledge and the bedside chest (which wouldn't fit against the bedside) held a travel kettle at the bottom of the bed. Although clean the room was spoilt by the lack of space. Breakfast OK - typical continental. Good location.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

This B&B was very clean and well presented, however we found that the ensuite's in the annex's were rather tight, even for the average person, our friend had to shave with the door open, because they are only about a metre wide!
This was the only fault, unless you're caught in the corner car park slot, you have to wait for other guests to leave before you can get your car out.
You may also get disturbed by returning guests talking in the courtyard!!

Room Tip: Try a room in the house!
